I thought this was long dead, like the rest of the Buffyverse, but then along comes this news report talking about Dollhouse and FOX's treatment of it and it has this little tid-bit in it...

"The studio (FOX) has also effectively torpedoed any attempt to mount a post-Angel spinoff series, notably Ripper, with Anthony Stewart Head, now apparently about to be rescued by the BBC, to be shot in England."

So maybe Giles will be on our TV sets again. And if the BBC's doing it, it might be really great.

Ripper was always going to be a BBC co-production.

This article's sources seem to be the same Internet rumors we all get. So don't get your hopes up.

yes I dont think this is base on anything new, and I think Giles is busy doing Merlin, I actually think how he plays Uther is similar to how he would play Ripper.

I think too many years have gone past now for this to happen.

Buffy fans are STILL waiting for this?

We already got our Buffy spinoff which was called Angel. It was pretty damn good. There's really no need for another.

On the plus side, a CD compilation of much of the show's score from the first five seasons was just released.
I noticed a Buffy 2009 calender in the shops this week, but apparntly people still buy that stuff, I moved onto Doctor Who calenders, that said I also noticed a Star Trek calender and its been 39 years since that was off the air.

As I said before, I have moved on to a new show now, whilst I will totally a love a show when its on, I tend to just move on when it gets axed and give my love to the next new show that comes along, or just love a few until one worthy of all my love arrives on my TV.

*goes off to read Doctor Who book*

Prior to the comics being declared the "canon" S8, I would have said "Why not? If it can be done well...there are more monsters in the world to fight..."

I don't think he plays Uther anything like Giles! Uther is far more of a bastard for starters, and far less thoughtful.

yeah ok Giles & Rippper are the same man, but different personality's
But Ripper isn't supposed to be Giles during his Ripper days, it's supposed to be post Buffy.

As much as I'd like to see this, I doubt it's going to happen.

I had thought it might feature someone from Giles past when he was known as Ripper, not Ethan, but something to justify the title.

^Well all I ever recall seeing about it was that it would be Giles post-Buffy investigating ghosts in England.

and hopefully viewers would learn about his Ripper past as the series went along.
Well considering the last time anything was said about it it was going to be a one off, I don't think that'd be an option, unless they went on to series.

I keep thinking that Ripper turned into Appiritions. :(

About a year ago, someone posted something that said that the BBC had confirmed they were going to make Ripper. I remember commenting at the time that I wouldn't trust the BBC to tell me the time (it was about 6 months after the endless Blue Peter/phone scandals). I remember someone telling me that it was the BBC, of course their word could be taken for what it was. Well, I'm still waiting.

ETA: /\ BTW, I've missed the Skutter. :)
