RIP William Campbell

I thought he died about 5 or 6 years ago but it's a shame anyhow - I was just watching Squire remastered the other day and still just love that performance.

Just the other day, I was talking to some friends about William Campbell's various Star Trek roles. I had nothing but glowing admiration for him and those characters.

Godspeed, Mr. Campbell, and may you rest in peace. :(

Said in General Trek Discussion:
*sad* Excellent and joyful/playful actor. The first I saw on TOS dvds who could outshine Shatner onscreen (Colicos was great actor but more considered/classical). We should thank him for the Q. I will not mourn but celebrate...

A fine fine character actor -- I urge people to seek out his many guest-starring roles on other 50s/60s programs -- he was just damn good!

RIP

Sir Rhosis

A fine character actor, always solid performances. I always remember him in The High and the Mighty and as a shifty Confederate in Escape from Fort Bravo. When I was a little kid, Campbell as Trelane really reminded me of Liberace for some reason, I think I thought it was Liberace at one time.

RIP, sir.

I'd be willing to bet that the part was written for Liberace in mind (he was still doing tv at times, including a guest spot on "Batman"), but Roddenberry, with his penchant for casting against type, pushed to get Campbell.

Awww...no :(

Thanks William for your memorable performances in two of my favourite episodes. My three year old finds Trelane utterly captivating, and requests Squire of Gothos all the time.

"Tallyho!" :)

RIP William Campbell :( Love the Squire of Gothos episode. I think I may watch it again in his memory.
