An absolute broadcasting colossus on both radio and TV for 50 years. Raised around £900m in total for Children in Need since its inception. And a genuinely lovely, warm, kind man.

While it's true that most people here will not know of him, it's equally true that most people here will not ever have known anyone quite like him.

It's a very sad day. Sir Terry, thanks for the decades of laughter and your warmth and gentle humour on the radio in the early mornings which made the days so much more bearable.
