Very sad news, RIP.
Pretty much every scene with Chewie is a favorite for me. He's one of my favorite characters in the whole franchise, which is mainly due to due the incredible charisma Mayhew (and now Joonas Suotamo) have been able to bring to the role, all without ever speaking a word.

Peter Mayhew was the first autograph I ever purchased at my very first pop culture convention, so this is rather sad for me.
The scene that always stuck out to me was Chewie crying because Han hadn't come back and they had to close the doors on Hoth because he probably wasn't coming back.
Dammit. 
RIP Original Chewie, aka Peter Mayhew. He was my favorite Star Wars character, so I pretty much liked all of the scenes he was in.

Like others have said, his performance in that suit gave us a character that you understood, even if Chewbacca didn't speak.

I'm light of this news, I'm rather proud of the fact that I was able to purchase an autograph from Joonas Suotamo and have him essentially replicate the structure of the autograph I bought from Mayhew on the exact same picture.and

I got to admit, Yoda jumping on Chewie's back for a piggyback ride in ROTS always makes me smile. Also can't go wrong with Chewie placing his hand behind his head with a smug smile after Han talks about his habit of pulling people's arms out of their sockets in ANH.
I liked in the special documentary included in the OT's DVD release when they showed filming footage from ANH which had Peter Mayhew actually saying lines of dialogue, kind of a fun insight into what Chewie's actually saying in those scenes. "That old man is crazy." "You said, Chewie. Kid, where did you dig up that old fossil?"

Favorite Chewbacca moment happens on the Death Star after Obi-Wan leaves Luke, Han, Chewbacca and the droids; he puts his hands on his hips and beings to complain about Kenobi. You can imagine "crazy" and "are you kidding?" were part of his comments.

When Chewie gets upset that they're putting Han in the carbon freezing chamber on Cloud City, but calms down when Han tells him to look after Leia.
When Chewie goes apeshit after Kylo Ren kills Han and shoots him and about a dozen Stormtroopers before setting off the bombs that allow Starkiller Base to be destroyed by Poe.

Yep, I like that scene too. Another favorite is a later scene in the same movie when Chewie tries to reassemble Threepio.
That's great.
I think Chewie howling when Han is being lowered down is among the most powerful moments in the film.
