“I never expected when I got that job and met him that we would forge such a powerful friendship,” Quinto said of the first man to don Spock’s iconic ears. “I love him, his wife. They’re like family to me, 100 percent. Like second parents, for sure.”

I was one of thsoe who complained about his cameo in Into Darkness, but what it really was, was the current crew trying to work with him as much as they could. At the end of the day for Abrams and Co., that's simple respect for the road he paved, something I didn't quite realize when I voiced those complaints. I'm glad we got to see him on the big screen again.

And now it's become his last appearance on film. We should cherish it.

cherish it beyond words can describe, I am truly heart broken. Don't know how I will sleep tonight.in fact all my dislike for star trek into darkness feels meaningless now as it was nimoy last trek film. such a sad day for trek fans and for the world and his family and loved ones. REST IN PEACE.So sad and devastated:(

I'm very grateful that we were able to see him again in STID. It would have been lovely to see him for the next movie too.

About a half hour ago, Shatner tweeted he's upset he won't be able to attend Nimoy's funeral because he's in Florida for a Red Cross charity event, tonight. He says he can't do that and get back to California in time for the funeral on Sunday. If he wants to stay, fine, but I hope the Red Cross officials will make it clear to him that if he left, they'd certainly understand. Maybe emotionally he simply can't handle it and is hiding behind the event (I'm saying that in sympathy for how he must feel and understanding that "working through it" may be an easier way for him to handle his grief, right now).

I'm prone to agreeing with your parentheses. I'm chalking it up to Shatner's personal grieving process, plain and simple. It's without a doubt that he's one of the hardest hit by Nimoy's passing, and has nothing to prove about it.

With that said, to a degree I envy Shatner (or any one who's worked with him) because they got to see his work up close and personal; even takes that went wrong that the audience doesn't see would still have Nimoy's work.
