RIP Joel Goldsmith

I saw Screen Archives and Varese posting about this last night, so I thought I'd start a thread here.

For those who don't know, Joel did some work on the score for Star Trek: First Contact, as well as being mostly responsible for scoring Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, as we ll as the sequel films, and as far back as the old syndicated series Super Force and The Untouchables (which if you grew up in the '90s and were a TNG fan, you'll remember used to air right before TNG in most markets.)

Also, probably more well known, is that he was the son of the great Jerry Goldsmith. (I think he wrote some popular soundtrack too, can't remember which ).

RIP Joel. Thanks for the catchy theme song for Atlantis and Untouchables, and for being another great in the musical landscape of TV and film.

Damn. Joel Goldsmith's work on the Stargates really was excellent. The end credits theme for SG-1, the Atlantis theme, the Asgard theme and the Replicators theme really stand out. For that matter, Daniel Jackson's ascension theme, Ba'al's theme, and that song Teyla sang in Critical Mass are also excellent examples of his work. Sad news indeed.
