RIP Estelle Getty

One factoid of the Golden Girls is that, though Estelle played the oldest character, she was in fact younger than Bea Arthur (who played her daughter) and Betty White. Bitter irony then that she should be the first to go.

RIP, Estelle. :(

Awww. She was great on the Golden Girls. She had suffered severe dementia for some time now. May she rest in peace.

"Thank you for being a friend...travel down the road and back again...your heart is true; you're a pal and a confidant...."

I used to love watching Golden Girls. Still do, whenever I catch the odd re-run here or there. RIP Estelle.

"Picture it, Sicily, 1956...."

Damn sad news, indeed. :( Suffered from advanced dementia - sounds like my grandmother (last grandparent alive).

Rest in peace, Estelle.

Picture it: Washington, DC, 1991.

Every Saturday night, Dad would sit us down and we'd watch The Golden Girls while Mom was off working at the hospital.

Those four ladies cracked us up week after week. One of the best sitcoms I've ever seen, and still remains to this day hilarious.

Rest in peace, Estelle. You will be missed.

:(

Thanks for the laughs, Estelle. You had a gift for deadpan humour and great comic timing.

RIP Estelle.

And thanks for the accent...I sort of stole it for a show...one patron said I sounded just like her, good ear.

As Milton Berle once said...only steal from the best...that she was.

Picture it:
Heaven, July 2008... laughter abounds.

Though the concept was more readily accepted than one might think ("It's a show about women in their golden years...), I don't think the show would have been such a hit without Estelle.

Rest in peace Estelle, thank you for the golden memories.
