Riker and Barclay: Gay Scene

Rick Berman, Braga, and the gang didn't have the balls. Lets do a holodeck malfunction episode instead!!

So... you just posted a clip from "Genesis" and gave it a sensationalist title on YouTube.

The level of creativity you demonstrate is staggering, friend. How Hollywood has not yet swooped in and given you an overall deal is mind boggling.

I posted this to youtube.

The video is called "Riker and Barclay go to Sickbay after gay sex."

Thoughts?

I am still surprised there was never any homosexual characters in TNG. I don't recall any in any of the future series either, but haven't seen any of Enterprise.

None of the tv series, including Enterprise, or any of the movies have ever had an upfront gay character. The closest they've done are evil bisexual Mirror Universe variations of the female characters on DS9, and the odd subtle hint or metaphor. It was almost understandable, if cowardly and uninspired, that they never did it decades past - even if they betrayed the progressive spirit of Trek and lost an opportunity to break new ground and give a much needed diversity to the genre. It is unforgivable that the new movies have continued to be all hetero, complete with Kirk having gratuitous threeways and the infamously awkward Carol Marcus underwear fan service scene.

What was the episode called where Riker had a relationship with someone from a non-gendered (or was it hermaphroditic?) species, but they chickened out at the last minute and cast a female actor in the role instead of a male one?

Because Gene was admittedly uncomfortable with homosexuals, and, and this is purely my opinion, Rick Berman is an outright homophobe. There's not really any other explanation considering how much fan and internal support there was for the idea.

Yes, but at that moment, Riker and Barclay are talking about two completely different story lines. It takes a certain kind of intellect to identify a chance for comedy by splicing that section out and making it appear as something quite original. A certain kind of intellect...

And with the likes of Orci writing Star Trek these days, I'm in no rush to be swept up by Hollywood.
