"Righteous Kill" - Pacino and DeNiro in the same movie again!

Aragorn

This isn't an official trailer (more like a promotional reel) but it does the job of a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljw2xWNT7k8

And since this time around they're partners, they'll share the same scenes for more than five total minutes! Plus you have Carla Gugino in it, too!

Though the casting of 50 Cent has me worried. When you're the weak link by a mile on a movie like Home of the Brave, how are you gonna look acting opposite Pacino and DeNiro?

I don't know. 50 Cent? And Pacino has been a parody of himself for a number of years now. Maybe it could be good. I'll reserve final judgment for now.

The first film that had both of them was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Then the next was by Michael Mann. This one is by someone called Jon Avnet. Is he good?

He's the director of Fried Green Tomatoes. Not exactly the first film I think of when a DeNiro Pacino team up is mentioned.

Well Titanic was billed as "From the director of T2 and Aliens."

"From the director of Fried Green Tomatoes and Up Close & Personal" wouldn't work for Righteous Kill? :)

True. Talk about crossing genres, though (not to mention target audiences.)

Brian Dennehy is in this one, too? I'm definitely going to be watching this one now!

Seriously, I just hope that this one turnsout a lot better than The Score which teamed up Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando in his final film.

By the way, is that blond guy with the suit supposed to be Anthony Michael Hall?

I never thought I'd say this about a DeNiro/Pacino team up...not that either has been particularly picky about their films in recent years...but Righteous Kill looks like a whole lot of bland.

Interesting. I'll definitely check it out if for no other reason than De Niro and Pacino teaming up together once again. Brian Dennehy, Donnie Wahlberg, and Frank John Hughes rounding up the supporting cast doesn't hurt any.

No, it's not him. I've seen him pop up a few times on Law & Order but I can't remember his name.

^^^

I really wish I could see Donnie Wahlberg and his brother Marky team up as cops in a film. Those 2 brothers sure can play convincing cops in films, if you ask me.

I watched The Interpreter once again tonight and low and behold, guess who was in it (which I had forgotten): Anthony Michael Hall's doppleganger, Terry Serpico. IMDb doesn't have his credit for Righteous Kill but it's definitely him in the trailer.

Some ads are unintentionally amusing. The Cameron Diaz chick flick In Her Shoes (2005) was advertised this way:

"From the director of L.A. Confidential"

I'm not sure the ad was effective.

They're trying to cross promote. They know the girls are already going to see Titanic or In Her Shoes, so they add those seemingly nonsensical "From the director of..." credits to try and entice the guys, not necessarily to come themselves but at least to not stop them from taking their girl.

I'm not kidding...this is true.

Pacino and De Niro is the only hook that's got me going to see this movie (unless, of course, Carla Gugino gets naked). But Millennium Films does not have a very good track record. They've got a lot of straight-to-video and not-screened-for-critics flicks out there. Though I guess they're getting bigger with Rambo, Mad Money, Street Kings and the upcoming War, Inc. (a sort of weird Grosse Pointe Blank/Lord of War hybrid).

They may be responsible for making some of the straight-to-video titles of Van Damme, Lundgren, Seagal and Snipes, but at least they don't have Uwe Boll on their client list.

Wow :vulcan: Throw in Jack Nicholson, and you'll have the three actors who play the same character in every damned movie they star. Maybe it's me, but Pacino and DeNiro are over-rated.

I've got the feeling that Carla Gugino will be the only good thing in this. Especially if she gets naked.

^ She doesn't get naked, but her boobies do a lot of bouncing in a bra. Well, thrusting is more like it.

Anyone see this movie? It came out this past weekend and did decent business for a September flick. Rather than start a new thread, I figure I'd just bump this one since there's already discussion going on.

I think Pacino and De Niro made this film. If it had starred, say, Keifer Sutherland and Will Smith, it just wouldn't have packed the same punch. I'd probably say the leads are the only reason to see this movie, since the mystery doesn't give you any clues to lead up to the reveal, and the cops go through the cop motions you've seen in dozens of movies before.
