On the way to Orlando airport to pick up RevdKathy, who was visiting from England, I was on a two-lane road (one each way.) A pick-up truck barreled into my lane. I was talking to my Mum but without missing a beat, swung sharply over to the right. He missed me and the guy behind me, but CREAMED the third car.
I was lucky as I was on a fortunate stretch of the road. Some parts were under construction or had ditches or other obstructions. I went partly onto a lawn. Had it been the parts under construction, I think the outcome wouldn't have been so good, at least for my car and possibly us.
While at the airport a bit later, was talking to some guy who had come up the same road. He said the guy driving the truck was hanging partly out of the window after the accident. I assume he survived as I saw nothing on the news and nothing online or in the newspapers, although I looked for news for a few days.
The funny part was that as I was slewing over to the right, my mother was going, "What the hell are you doing?" I didn't have time to answer her. I told her later though, "See Mum, I can talk and drive!" because we had been yapping away when the guy came at us and I finished my sentence as I was getting the hell out of the truck's way.
Hardest thing I had to do was later come back down that road. In the dark. I was like, "Grrrrreat."
