is rigel also home to the green skinned orions?
As I said in my first post, Role Play Game material placed the Orions at Rigel, but there is no canonical evidence of this and the modern Trek lit line has not made any references to Orions being native to Rigel either.
In one of the Rigel systems there is the Starbase 134 Integration Facility on Rigel VI, or so says the TNG Technical Manual (page 160). Any opions on whether this is Beta rigel or the other one?
I don't have my Star Charts book at hand. Are the Virgo stars coreward? From Sol, I mean.
Coreward and antispinward. You can find Mu Virginis on the Star Charts maps near the Romulan Neutral Zone, near Syrma (Iota Virginis). Also in that upper right quadrant, you can find plenty of other stars from Virgo.

"Star Trek Maps" (1980) first speculated that the Orions and the Kaylar were from different planets orbiting Rigel, possibly because both races appeared in flashback scenes/illusions in "The Cage", but ENT established canonically that Orions definitely don't come from Rigel. It would be hard to be a supposedly neutral power engaging in slavery right under Starfleet's nose. However, the whole notion that the Rigel Colonies and the rest of Rigel's planets are teeming with a huge variety of sentient life, and that Orion slavers might visit regularly, to harvest humanoid slaves from there, still fits well.?
"Those FASA gaming materials suggested that Orions' green skin is just one of many hues. If I recall, it suggested that the pasty-faced male Orions of TAS ("Pirates of Orion") are so pale because they were confined to their vessels. However, I really loved what ENT did with the hulking big green male Orion slavers. Their outfits were great!
Thanks, Therin! I was unaware of the "Maps" book. It does fit well.

"ST Maps", from Bantam, was a cardboard folder featuring two double-sided, folded maps and a slim booklet, "An Introduction to Navigation", and the booklet had brief descriptions of numerous star systems, with a focus on those systems mentioned in the Captain's Logs of the USS Enterprise.
It was sort of the first run for the Star Charts, then?
I wonder if the Rigel Colonies might actually span several systems. A confederation of worlds with Rigel as its capital.
