Today Rifftrax released their commentary on the last of the Twilight movies, a sample:

(If you're unfamiliar with Rifftrax, they're feature-length commentaries brought to you by three of the head writers of the TV series "Mystery Science Theater 3000." The commentary -in the vein of MST3K- is on "riffing"/making fun of the movie. The Twilight movie riffs have been consistent successes for the Rifftrax gusy. You buy and download the commentary and play it along with your copy of the movie.)
Along these lines if you've not yet heard, Rifftrax wants to riff on the first Twilight movie during one of their live shows this August. Normally the VOD and live show riffgs they've done have been on movies that are either public domain (like Plan 9, House on Haunted Hill, Reefer Madness) or movies that can easily and cheaply get the rights to (like Birdemic.)
To riff on Twilight they'd likely need more money to go to Lionsgate with to secure the rights. So on February 25 Rifftrax launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $55,000 -what they estimate they'd need to start negotiations with. They not only got that money within hours they had far surpassed inside of day, currently standing a bit short of $250,000 with a little less than two weeks to go.

If they're unable to secure the rights to Twilight they plan to do down their list of the "worst movies" voted on by fans at the end of last year, among this list including "Batman and Robin", "Catwoman", and "The Room" until they get the rights to a movie.
