Six more episodes have been watched and reviewed by Dear Wife since my last report. Here goes:
"Dagger of the Mind": she was surprised and impressed that Helen Noel had a significant role in the solution to the problem -- a professional woman who wasn't defined solely by her relationship with Kirk. The negative: she was disappointed that Dr. Adams had to die to resolve the plot.
"The Corbomite Maneuver": good "fear of the unknown" theme, with a nice twist about testing for cooperation at the end. She would not, however, have made the same decision as Bailey if she were offered his choice of going out to live with Balok for a while.
"The Menagerie" parts I and II: she'd seen The Cage before, so she was easily able to guess what Spock was doing when the new Pike story started unfolding. Nevertheless she thinks the surrounding "shell" story was very well done.
"The Conscience of the King": she totally did not expect the twist ending of Lenore being the killer. She was disappointed with the darkness of the episode's theme, but enjoyed the surprise twist.
"Balance of Terror": she liked this one a lot. It's the first plotline she could see was still directly relevant to 2016 issues. If Spock and the Romulans had brown skin and beards instead of pointed ears, they could have told the same story with Muslims.
