Revisiting Insurrection

I was rewatching the movie on SyFy today, and while it still has some silly elements that take away from the film a bit, it seemed better than I recall from the theater.

weak movie. Lousy, poorly thought-out premise, unsympathetic protagonists in the Baku, cheesy humor, Data's character regresses,it's a real let down after the awesomeness of FC.

This one is down near the bottom of the barrel of Trek movies for me.

I certainly like this one better than nemesis and about equal with Generations. I think it gets a bad rap and it still is a good Trek film.

Bottom of the barrel as far as Trek films go.

Poorly thought out moral dilemma, Picard violating orders before he even knows what's going on and terribly unfunny jokes.

Cinematography is nice though.

Same here. I find it the TNG movie closest in tone and spirit to the TV series.

If you have to rewatch a film to find the good parts, it's not a good film.

Insurrection is a horrible film that does almost everything wrong.

picard takes the obviously morally wrong and we're meant to go along with it :/

At this point, and after re-watching all the Trek movies (especially the TNG ones from the Blu-Ray set I got a few months back), I've come to this conclusion: You get what you want out of these movies.

If you go in thinking: "It's been a while and they're not total crap," I think you'll come away enjoying them, despite their flaws.

If you go into them thinking: "They were crap, they are crap, they'll always be crap," then I think you'll walk away thinking you've wasted your time.
