Returning to my Trekkie Roots....

Tyjos Azari

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Well over the years I've been in various fandoms for stuff I collected. Things like Stargate,Star Wars,Transformers, Gi Joe, Battlestar Galactica, and Japanese Anime.

Lately now I've been feeling the need to get back to the thing that started it all: Star Trek.

Finding that the other fandoms just really were either just too crazy or just not really for me.

I sorta I guess you can say got away but never really got fully away from Star Trek it was always there.

The last year or so I've been emoing and whining a lot and just literally being an emo cause the other fandoms just literally aren't what I thought they were and other stuff too adding to it.

So now that I've acquired Deep Space Nine complete on DVD, as well as comics and got more of the Art Asylum and Diamond Select figures. I saw the Star Trek Movie earlier this year and that signaled to me that it's time to get back into Trek. I enjoyed the Movie greatly...I lost interest a little bit after Nemesis Came out and felt Trek had gotten boring and old.

But now it feels different, rediscovering the Joy of Star Trek is pretty good especially the Gaming part of it from the 90's when the Trek games were REALLY Great.

I notice now I have more in common with fellow Star Trek fans than the fans of those other fandoms I've been in.

Just never fit in with the other fans of the other fandoms maybe fit in a little wth the Stargate fans but the Transformers and Gi Joe fans...no way I just can't relate to that anymore...seems like that's gotten...well Childish, Transformers and Gi Joe...both have gotten very old to me since I have spent a crazy amount of $$$$ on the toys over the years.
[Maybe now I've finally outgrown both series even though they're still pretty cool I let my Nephew play with my Gi Joe and Transformers figures now these days]

But I think it's time I stay with Star Trek.

Where everyone's entitled to their opinion just make sure you don't insult Mr. Scott saying the enterprise should be hauled away AS Garbage.

Feels GOOD to be back in Trek.

Just been away far too long...I mean Spike TV started showing TNG, DS9,and Voyager and SyFy still shows Enterprise.

I watched an episode or two every day...

To me it feels as if sometimes I miss the "Moral Lessons" and the adventure of Trek....there have been times over the years in the fandoms I've been on the forums that it's like "You know, these people should watch more Trek they'd maybe learn something about how to behave towards others." that I'd think at times.

Seems as if Trek has the bigger fanbase I think...not sure about Star Wars or Star Gate [the only other series that I have on DVD full complete up to the recent SGU Season 1.0 and not to mention the Diamond Select Stargate Figures as well+ 2 Stargates]

It's just one of those things....you can't escape from Star Trek. Once a Trekkie, Always a Trekkie.

Really? Which games would you recommend? Speaking of Spike TV, does anyone remember when they first became "The National Network" and started promoting TNG heavily even bringing back some of the old cast (i.e. Marina Sirtis, Patrick Stewart) to host things like episode marathons, do little interviews, and drop fun trivia bits? I loved that so much. It happened while I was in university and really got the nostalgia going and reignited my passion for TNG after not thinking about it much for a few years.

Games I highly recommend:

Star Trek Armada [MUST MUST MUST Play this! It's easy to loose half a day in this game!]
Star Trek New Worlds [I love this game, colony building is great!]
Star Trek DS9 The Fallen [even better when you read the 3 Books that go with it!]
Star Trek DS9 Dominion Wars
Star Trek Starfleet Academy [Pure Classic here!]
Star Trek Starfleet Command
Star Trek Away Team [Was good too]
Star Trek Borg [If you want some Q/Borg fun]

Those are what I consider the best from the early days of Trek in the 90's but man these are fun now compared to the new stuff that's out.

Yeah I remember that week long TNG Marathon I tried to tape it all on VHS......but now I have TNG on DVD! It was so good to see TNG again after so many years...it was like before that I was like "Man I miss TNG" since it wasn't on TV anymore.

I just will tell you all one thing, the fandoms and fans of the other ones I was in...well they are just well too the fact rude to others....[only other fandom I really like now these days is Stargate and Babylon 5 and Star Wars is ok too but the rest are just too insane]

Today I recieved my Trek games i bought this last week:

Star Fleet Academy Strategic Command
Star Fleet Command Neutral Zone

I miss the joy of commanding a ship in battle, or even flee building like in Armada to send your forces to attack a enemy position....

Enjoying the DS9 Series too at the same time makes it even better!

You forgot Klingon Academy! Probably one of my favorite trek games of all time which still has an active mod community at klingonacademy.com. You'll probably find it difficult to run on most modern computers but I highly recommend you check it out

I frequently stray from Star Trek as my primary obsession. Currently, I'm on more of a Doctor Who kick. I've also spent months or years delving into shows like Roswell, Dollhouse, Earth: Final Conflict, Law & Order, The Twilight Zone, Homicide: Life on the Street, Red Dwarf, Stargate, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel. But even then, I still prefer to view it through the prism of Star Trek. I go to the TrekBBS's Doctor Who subforum rather than Outpost Gallifrey or wherever. I think part of that comes from a lot of these other fandoms, especially Buffy & Angel, being filled primarily with the scary obsessive middle-age 'shippers. (Think Clara from The Guild but with lots of photoshopped homoerotic Angel/Spike pics on her hard drive.)

I understand how you feel. The other fandoms are very possessive (or is it obsessive) about their worlds. I've tried to communicate with other Battlestar Galactica fans and the only BSG they acknowledge is the nuBSG and Classic BSG does not exist!

Well, I think you're straying from Star Trek is normal. I went into Classic BSG (back in 1978) and spent some time following Dr. Who but got out after Davidson became doctor.

The nice thing about Trek fans is we can agree to disagree and still remain a family...alot like the characters we love.

Welcome aboard, again!!

Grrr...pissed now I can't play Star Trek Starfleet Command it's like it won't recognize my keyboard [push a button and it gets that dinging sound thing]

At least I just finished a few hours in ST Armada.....

Yeah, there was a few months I didn't watch any Trek or thought about it. Now, it seems I am back riding the Trek wave again.

Minus the whole video game thing.
I prefer role playing games to video games.

And yes. I have played TNG the role playing game in the past before.
