Return of the Caption Contest!

[Doctor #10]Oh, hello![/Doctor #10] The Doctor Who forum has been void of the caption contest for quite some time *Sorry. I'm so sorry.*; however, Neroon has granted me permission to relaunch them.

To get started, I would like to ask that if you have screen caps from *any* episode, Classic Who or NuWho, please shoot them to me in a PM. For the sake of simplicity/sanity, I will only use a maximum of two pictures as I find three or more is a bit distracting.

I will also strive to stick to a more consistent period to run the contests by having them run from Sunday through Saturday. That keeps it fresh for everyone.

L:lol:L

Fantastic.

I was wondering when someone would take over my reign on the caption contests. I havnt done one since way before christmas.

Ive been so busy recently i have only been able to go online in work hours, that are all over the place. besides, its only limited internet browsing time, i rarely have time at home on the internet, let alone keep doing the caption contests. So i stopped.

ill dig out the hoards i have on my hardrive that i stockpiled when i was running the caption contests.

I even have unused ones that i even uploaded to photobucket ages and ages ago.

I've only had one submission thus far, and the other night I stumbled across a website with a virtual *plethora* of screen caps. Most are of NuWho, so I'm off to a good start, but if you want to PM me for my e-mail so you can put them in a Zip file and send me some, I am definitely open to that.

Hey all,

I have not been on the forum since May due to personal reasons. Nothing serious; however, unless you all really want me to continue, I do not know if I should bother with continuing the Caption Contests. I will only do so if enough of you desire it.

Well I find it fun to enter, but for me the trouble is we don't get to vote on the captions so it all seems a bit arbitrary who wins, and winning doesn't confer any special benefits on you. Compare that with the avatar contest where we get to vote and winner choose the next comp.

Like I said though, caption comp is fun, I just think it needs tweaking a bit.

I see. That's a very interesting observation. Let's run with this. How should we go about doing a group vote on the captions?

I have to say, I really don't care about the winners in all the Trek caption contests that are run elsewhere on this forum, I just loving having something to give me a lift at work that goes back and forth between sublime literary references and horribly filthy K/S jokes. Just let the contest runner pick what makes him laugh and that's that?

So, just make it a free for all with no voting and no winner declared?

OK. I'll gather up some pics and get another one started.

You can pick winners like they do in the Trek threads, they just don't count for anything and there's no questioning the results. It's nice to have winners, they're just light little contests for fun.

If you'd take choosing winners seriously, you might have to make efforts about who came up with an idea originally, seeing how people inspire each other in the Trek contests. And there might be just to many entries to set up a voting system. I like it the way they do it in the Trek forums.
