Retro villains you'd like to see?

The Xindi, just to bring them into continuity. Otherwise, there is a few hundred years gap between the 22nd century and Battle of Procyon V.
The Xindi would be an excellent idea actually. Toss in a few throwaway lines as well for fun.

They are in continuity. The Battle of Procyon V never happens because the Sphere Builders are stopped.

I hope at some point that "Discovery" acknowledges the Qu'Vat virus Augment Klingons, since in another decade they'll become the most prevalent type encountered by Kirk and his crew.
Otherwise, I'd like to see maybe a first contact with the minor throwaway races like Breen or the Talarians, races we've heard about the Federation having aggressive contact with, but never seen. (Yes, I remember eventually the Breen side with the Dominion in "DS9", I just mean before that!)

Mirror universe - yay or nay? Would it make sense to check on how the Terran Empire is doing at this time period?

I'm more of a TNG-era obsessive fan, so my list of 23rd-century shouts is slim. But Chang, the Gorn, the Tholians, and the Romulans would be great. The Romulans might never happen because the producers are against it given the matter of canon. (Go figure, here I am, a fan not a producer, wishing they'd somehow ignore that.)

I think seeing Chang would be super-cool though. See what built his hatred and scorn. He could be a side character for an episode who suffers harshly under Starfleet attack.
