Lance Parkin decided to write a Doctor Who script this morning. In four hours, he produced "Retreat of the Daleks," the first twenty pages of a 12/Clara television script with the "Eternal Dalek, Relgion, and Set in the Future."

It's funny -- and also a bit disturbing. Hey, Moffat, can you commission Parkin? I'd like to see how this plays out.

Spoiler: In reality...

In reality, it's a Buddhist retreat. The Daleks have taken over a Buddhist retreat and they have embraced meditation and contemplation of the self. But there's something very strange killing the Daleks when the Doctor and Clara arrive.

I cringed when the Daleks started meditating.

But then I usually cringe when I read shit like this during a Moffat era Dalek story so I guess it's not too far out of place.

I thought it was hilarious, though I'm not sure it would work tonally as an actual episode.

Dalek poetry is the supreme poetry of the universe.

Clara, think about it. There are loads of words which rhyme with ‘exterminate’.

That was a haiku, by the way.

It has one syllable too many to be a haiku. And no cutting word.

Parkin was pretty good IMO, he did some memorable novels (Many of which unfortunately are hard to find ) as well as the Davros audio (Which has the Sixth Doctor face Davros between Ressurection and Revelation of the Daleks, and helps clear up some discontinuity between the two at the same time)
