Resistance, Q & A

I'm only up to GttS so I don't even have the practical jokes to reflect on. :) I'll probably read the Destiny trilogy soon but right now I'm reading Engines of Destiny. To be honest I'm pretty Borged out right now. ;)

"Borged", or "Bored"?? You were talking about Engines of Destiny there...can't be sure... :vulcan:

Nah. I'm really enjoying EoD. I've always liked Gene Deweese's work. Besides Kirk Vs. Borg? Irresistible for a Kirk-whore like myself. :D

Haha, yeah? I couldn't finish it. I think I got only as far as the part where Kirk and Scotty (?) get beamed into an interrogation room or something that's only accessible via transporter, or something. That's really all I remember...hahaha

I'm about halfway through EoD. It's good in my opinion but not perfect. The characterization for Picard and Kirk are pretty spot on but Scotty? Not so much. He's being portrayed as a whiny, petulant little bitch and that doesn't sit well with me.

This guilt trip over Kirk's death doesn't jibe with either Generations or Relics. Personally I think it would have been better if Scotty's quest had been driven by loneliness rather than guilt. I mean Scotty doesn't have any friends to talk to. Sure Spock and McCoy are still around but he hasn't seen them in 80 years. What do they really have to talk about other than the good old days? Rescuing Kirk makes sense in this context. Steal a man from the past who's dead anyway and give him a second chance at life. Much more in character for Scotty than guilt over something that's not even remotely his fault in the first place.
