Resident Evil: Degeneration Trailer

Thank the good lord that they decided to ditch those horrible RE live action movies. There was so much potential in the story that they had already created for the games. It just does not make sense to me how they could take that great plot and tear it to pieces/turn it into a piece of crap.

I loved the little nods to RES 2 in the movie and I guess its set after RES 4 in the universe and before or parraell to the new game with Chris.
I believe it is set 7 years after the Racoon City incident (2&3) and a year after RE4

It's a shame Wesker wasn't in it, kind of always expect him to pop up at some point

Oh and by the way, I've played all the main games except Code Veronica (0,1,2,3,4, and I should be getting CV for Christmas actually on Gamecube :)), but I always forget or get confused-
What's the difference between the T-Virus and the G-Virus?

The T-Virus makes the regular zombies and some of the animal mutations like the hunters and killer snakes. From what I remember, the G-Virus was responsible for the nastier creatures, like the Tyrant and Nemesis (Nemesis may have had his own special virus though). it's been a while since I've palyed through the games though.

It's set after RE4, but it's ment to set up for RE5.

Interesting this came up, I'm a huge RE fan and own every game (and sadly, every movie). To be honest theres a lot of people out there that hate the films but the question I ask is: Would you still hate it if it was named something different?

I theorize the answer would be "yes", mainly because the film franchise isn't that bad, only it was a different take on the game series. Infact the first film has very few references to the game series. Off the top of my head I can only thing of a few. The red queen, the crows, the STARS logo at the end of the film, and some camera angles.

I know some people are already thinking I've missed some major ones, but the mansion isn't referenced as the Spencer mansion, and the hive is only loosly based on the underground umbrella base in RE2. But anyway, thats the references I've seen.

On topic, I really want to watch this movie!

That wasn't the fault of the writers and the producers though, PWSA said in interviews that the original script for the first film borrowed heavily from the first game in the series. It was Sony's decision to limit the connections to the games because they were concerned sales would be affected if the games were converted into films.

Not quite. The T-virus was the one responsible for the Tyrants and all of the zombies and miscellaneous creatures. The G-Virus was an evolution of the T-Virus that was developed by Birkin independently of Umbrella. When Umbrella forces came to take the virus by force, he injected himself with it, but it was unstable and caused constant mutation eventually transforming him into a massive blob.

The viruses in Resident Evil are hard to keep straight at times. According to Wikipedia there are 3 Main Viruses. They are:

- The Progenitor Virus: The first and the basis of all others. It caused rapid mutation.

- T (Tyrant) Virus: The main virus used by Umbrella. It's subvirii are:
-- NE-T Virus
-- T-Cameron
-- T-JCCC203
-- T-Veronica
--- T-Alexia

- G Virus: The G-Virus was an experimental virus developed by Birkin. It was highly unstable.

The two other virii are:
- tG Virus: Melding of the T and G virus strands.
- Unknown: Used by Wesker in the mansion. It gave him superhuman abilities.

It was their fault really. The film was so terrible and far away from the Resident Evil franchise, even Capcom stated on record that they wanted nothing to do with the film series which ultimately the writers had to say "it's an alternate universe".

The second part, it was Capcom that didn't want any affiliation because they believed that it would effect the sales of their games, they couldn't give a shit about the films. The only reason Resident Evil: Aplocalypse has more characters and references to the story is because Capcom approved a film more strongly based on the series, after they saw the result they wanted nothing to do with it. Hence why there is all of 3 references in RE:E (Claire Redfield, Albert Wesker, crimson heads (although not really a reference as they are never called crimson heads on film), and finally the G-Virus, which again is never directly referenced.

Also don't listen to Wikipedia, anyone can write anything there.

^ I didn't hear it on Wikipedia though. I heard it in an interview done by Paul W.S. Anderson during promotion of the original film that his original drafts were more aligned with the games until Capcom requested changes. It also used to be up on YouTube.
