Resident Evil: Degeneration Trailer

I can't say it has me all worked up. Even though they were a little cheesy I liked the live action films. I would have preferred to see another one.

People aren't getting this are they? This is not a continuation of the live action movies. This is part of video game continuity. (i.e. the real continuity)

^I get that it's not a continuation of the live action movies, I just would prefer to see a live action movie.

I think that we'll one day get another live action Resident Evil film, but I don't think that it'll be with the current cast or even include Alice Abernathy/Janus Prospero. I think if we get another live action it'll be a remake.

I thought they were already planning the fourth movie concurrently with the third one and that it would be set in Japan. I thought that was the whole point of the 3rd film's cliffhanger ending with a million Alices.

What changed?

^ That was a plan in the beginning; however, it didn't come to fruition. The 4th film was going to focus on Jill Valentine; however, the actress who played her (Sienna Guillory) was not able to return during their time table so the film was scrapped.

But the ending of the third movie clearly sets up a fourth one starring Milla Jovovich, presumably set in Japan. Valentine wasn't even mentioned in the 3rd movie, was she?

^ No she wasn't. Milla also has said she is not interested in returning to do another. She said during the promotion for Extinction that for her the story of Alice is over. I think that its also in the commentary of Extinction (but I'd have to look) that she's done with the series.

Personally I too wouldn't have minded seeing Alice go after Umbrella...

The books could pick up where the 3rd movie left off. IIRC (as I mentioned) the novelization of Apocalypse leaves off with "To Be Continued". If Sony doesn't plan to do any more movies along with Milla, hopefully they will finish the story in novel form.

I would have to check but I don't believe that Extinction ends with To Be Continued.

Trivia: KRAD wrote it.

I would prefer to just forget that the live action movies ever even happened. But they apparently have a fanbase (the majority of which have most likely never played the games they are based on) if there were three of them.

Actually I am a fan of the films and yes I am a fan of the games as well (and I have played each of them).

Just thought I'd dig this thread up as I can't be bothered making a new one.

The DVD of this doesn't come out till December 17th in Japan, Dec 27th in the US and Jan 12th in Europe. But I watched it last night anyway...

And just to say for the 100th time in this thread, this has nothing to do with those gash three films.

So yeah, pretty good. As you'd expect it does at times feel like a 90 minute cut scene, but with Resident Evil cut scenes thats no bad thing. It certainly didn't drag and there are some great moments, but yet for a movie I thought they would have expanded the universe a bit maybe, or brought in new ideas, big events etc. It all felt a but pointless in the end.
Still Leon is just as cool as he was RE4, I love the guy. And for a CG charatcer, Angela is smoking hot!

Oh yeah, it kept bugging where I'd heard Claire Redfields voice before too, finally realised she also did the voice of Jubilee in the 90s X-Men cartoon.

Anyone else seen it, or planning to watch it?

Just finished it and easily better than any of the Hollywood movies and I hope we get a sequel. CGI was top notch and proved that some games should follow that route instead of live action and for the most part the plot was pretty tight and is worthy of the Resident Evil name.

Voice acting was very good too, which surprised me though I thought Leon's voice did not suit the character but maybe thats because I never played RES 4 so I just remember the rookie Leon from his early days. I loved the little nods to RES 2 in the movie and I guess its set after RES 4 in the universe and before or parraell to the new game with Chris.

Angela is a right babe and dam I would love to see a movie with her, Claire and Jill . I would love a sequel with Chris/Jill and then a 3rd with all RES characters because we've never had them all in one plot.

GRADE - B+
