Replica Uniform?

Well the company is pretty reputable but I'm not sure. Forbidden Planet is an awesome store.

Was there ever an "official" uniform maker?

I've seen several different TNG/DS9/VOY and TOS uniforms in the past.

I guess "sanctioned" or "licensed" would have been better words.

And I have heard about Forbidden Planet's awesomeness. Whatever else gets planned for the day, the TrekBBS London meetups usually seem to include a stop there, followed by showing-off of new toys.

^ Ah, yes. Couldn't find the words.

"Officially Licensed Product" would probably be the correct verbiage. ;)

I've never crossed the nerd line of dressing up, but these seriously make me want to.

Will they be out by the premiere?

Whoa. Rubies Customes have it right it looks like. I GOT to get me one of THESE !!!!!

Caaare-ful. Rubies has had good prototype photos in the past, only to deliver shit products. It's pretty common with them.

Or, to quote someone from another board, "Rubies has three levels of quality: crap, slightly more expensive crap, and really expensive crap polished so much it shines."

I don't see any texturing at all. Aside from that, they missed the contrast facing on the shoulder seams and the open collar doesn't replicate the TOS collar effect at all - the model seems to just be wearing a plain black turtleneck.

Aside from possibly the braid, not close.

According to the Rubie's website, it's a dickie. So not even a full turtleneck.

And yeah, it looks like @$$. I just didn't feel like getting into an argument with any of the people who think it looks great. :p

Yeah, Rubie's is a nice bit of ripoff.

You're better off finding out how to make your own or having a friend/relative who's good with sewing make it for you.

On the large version of the first link I can see the texturing, etc.

Oh I see, that's not texture afterall it's just... flat.
Kind of like a print on pattern.

Rubies has a habbit of being dreadful. I only just noticed these on FB's site today. There are far better costume makers out there though.
