Reminiscing about old gaming tech. Quicktime VR

Anyone here remember QuickTime VR or games that used that?

Off the top of my head I owned the TNG Technical Manual which used that in the background and I used to have tons of games that utilized the technology my favourite was "In The 1st Degree" a murder / courtroom drama game with branching choices. and live action video.

The other fun thing I remember about it was the adventure you went on to install QuickTime, and then get it to work properly without having hiccups.

I'm happy we've long abandoned it. That thing was a pain to use and quite slow too. I was actually glad when games started to move to Macromedia which allowed for much more flexibility.

I'd love a modern reboot of something like the TNG manual maybe using Vulkan or some other system.

Kind of like the Myst remakes? The Myst games were one the first to use Quicktime VR and eventually ended up getting a fully-3D remake. They could use pretty much anything these days.
