Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

This story kicks off the eBook line's celebration of TNG's 20th anniversary with a story that unites the crews of the da Vinci and the Enterprise. It's a major turning point for Sarjenka, and a pretty big story for Abramowitz and Gomez, too. :)

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

You're forgetting the rather large bits of backstory on Abramowitz and Vale.

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

^ Yes, I did forget that. And Corsi gets a lot to do, also.

It's a big story, folks. Don't miss it. :)

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

And this story is long. It's not artificially cut into two parts, I assure everyone. There is a natural breaking point in the story, and that's where it was cut in two. Mind you, that doesn't change the fact that as a whole, it's still a novel-length story. So, you're getting a novel out of me, just not the way you expected. ;)

Short fiction is all well and good, there's nothing wrong with it at all, but I'm a natural-born novelist. I'm far more comfortable in the 50K-100K range. I honestly had to learn to write short fiction for Three Sides to Every Story. So, to be able to have what's probably my last Corps of Engineers contribution be more in my comfort zone was nice. I hope everyone enjoys it.

Oh, and I hereby apologize to everyone in advance. Book 1 took over a year to write, and Book 2 was delayed because of me, and me alone. Don't let anyone else say otherwise. Those who know what my last 21 months have been like know why. Let's just say it's damn near impossible to write when you're going through months that could easily be a House script, complete with a lot of oh, so fun tests to make sure the vertigo you've had for almost a year isn't really Multiple Sclerosis. (I'm clean now, but the possibility was raised, so I'm still being monitored with annual MRIs.)

On the bright side, if I ever have to write a story involving a lumbar puncture, I know exactly what's involved, and what it feels like. Fortunately, that doctor was from County Cork in Ireland, so we had a great chat. :)

Q-Is there any way to get an e-book without a credit card?

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

There used to be on Amazon, but right now I honestly don't know, so I'm afraid I'll have to leave that for the more recently-versed than myself.

Glad things are better TerriO but out of curiosity, and apologies for being slightly off-topic, but how did you have conversations with a Corkman since the Cork accent is extremely unique. Even I have difficulties understanding it at times!

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

Her accent had ebbed a bit in the couple of years since she'd come to New York, but it was still there. :)

And I'm an accent sponge. The rate I soak up accents, I almost sounded like her by the time I got out of the lab room.

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

^ She really did. It was kind of scary, especially since she was also doped up on pain meds....

My mom came from Cork. I had trouble understanding my aunts and uncles all the time.

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

Uhhh, I now cringe everytime I hear to words lumbar puncture or spinal tap, because I also had to have one when I was dealing with some medical problems. So yeah, I can sympathize Terri. And I made the mistake of sitting up soon or something, because I was sick for like a week afterwards.

I should think that, were you to buy a Visa* Gift Card at your local financial institution, that would work just as well as a "real" credit card for online purchase.

* I'm not plugging the Visa brand specifically, oh hell no. But they seem more ubiquitious than gift cards of the other brands.

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

You know what those Visa gift cards are great for?

When you go to Best Buy, and they offer you the magazines as a free trial when you pay with a credit card? Well, if you don't cancel, they're billed to your credit card. Use a Visa gift card, take the magazines, and then there's no credit card to bill. ;)

Now that is an idea worth trying out. I have recently gone credit-card free, and the inability to buy an occasional e-book was the first thing that almost made me regret it.

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

That should work. I haven't tried it myself, but I've spent American Express "points" reward cards from the office on Amazon gift certificates, so I'd expect it would probably work the same.

Don't get rid of the card, though, in case you need to re-activate the eBook from a backup.

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

Dang, I'd better get cracking. I still haven't finished Signs From Heaven, as I've been watching my Heroes DVDs on my laptop when I'd normally be reading CoE. I really need to sort out my priorities. :D

Re: Remembrance of Things Past Book 1 is now out as an ebook

Ummm, I don't know if I should report this here or somewhere else but I've found a mistake on the Simon & Schuster Trek books page. I was looking at the upcominf releases and it had an entry for Rememberence of Things Past Book 1, but it has an image from the first Slings and Arrows book, and a release date of November 1. I know you guys can't do anything, but I figured since it was related to RotP 1 I would at least say something here.
