Remembering people

Yeah, I'm not so sure this is a good idea. I've stopped doing it.

On one level, it's "I'm going to be self-deprecatorily polite and warn you about my amusing little foibles".

On another, it's "I don't give a fuck about you, and you know what? I'm going to tell you that, right from the off." :D

I now save this for when I really, really want them to know the latter.

Eh, I don't do it professionally, and frankly, I just don't give a fuck otherwise. They might as well know that about me from the start.

On the other hand, most people seem to be relieved and commiserate. Sometimes it actually leads to a conversation instead of me just wandering off having already forgotten the name.

I'm great with faces and terrible with names. And it's gotten really really bad too. My husband knows that if i don't introduce him to someone we happen to meet up with while we're out it's because i can't, for the life of me, remember the person's name. I've even forgotten the names of people i have known for years. I just completely blank out. It is really scary and VERY frustrating.

I can remember faces but not names,I started my new Job in April but there are still people who's names I can't remember.
