Does anyone remember the SSI gold-box AD&D computer games that came out in the late 80's and early 90's? I've been replaying them in sequence (yes, I'm old enough to have played them when they first came out).
I was wondering if anyone was ever able to successfully finish "Pools of Darkness" without cheating? Heck, even with cheating, I couldn't finish it. The final battle was just too incredibly difficult. And this was after setting the level to novice and hacking my player characters to give them all 255 hitpoints. As a result, I've never been able to play the bonus adventure that was available only after finishing the game.
I've been back through all four of the "forgotten realms" titles and I've moved on to the two "savage frontier" titles. I finished "Gateway to the Savage Frontier" last night and it was much more enjoyable than I remember it being originally.
