Yes, the Trek universe could have been much more diverse than it was. But there were stations that refused to televise PS because of The Kiss. Not sure about Rejoined.
And I was mistaken, there were other same sex kisses on tv, the first one was apparently in 1990 (21 Jump Street). The 80's had lesbian characters, but no kissing, according to my (possibly incorrect) source.
I don't think there was any blurring/ censorship of the scene in Rejoined by the producers of the show, but rather by the folks who televised it, in my case, the Heroes and Icons network. I've seen numerous movies that had blurred cleavage and butt cracks blurred out on that and other networks.
Has anyone else seen the episode on H&I or BBC America and had the same experience?
