Registry Listing

I was wondering if anyone has a master registry list out there. I have been compiling one for 15+ years, and would like to compare what I have.

There's been a few, but it's a bit of a lost cause since there are many sources and they overlap heavily. Are you wanting 'canon' (TNG-VOY) only? Or are you going for all-inclusive?

FJ has one schema.
FASA has another schema.
LUG and CODA have another schema.
Canon has another schema.
SFB has another schema.
Official (but non-canon) and Fandom publications have their own schema.

So it really depends on what you're looking for.

Hey Vance, great to hear from you. I actually looking for everyone's scheme. Btw, I remember on your old site you had the type of ship and its registry for each drawing you did. Do you still have those?

I've got the list paired down to what I'm using for Jaynz... I'll see if I can't do a list up more formally for you by this weekend.

I've got one Excel sheet where I try to reconcile fan registries into a working, non-overlapping whole, ignoring most of FASA but building on a mixture of Guenther and Schnaubelt's works and squeezing the canon bits in between. Necessarily, such a sheet includes a few columns of alternate and discarded numbers, and explanations...

It's not particularly difficult to have a TOS era Starfleet with about a thousand fighting vessels with NCC registries (and only a few groupings of true frontline ships, about a dozen each), but the pre-TOS Starfleet is relatively small if one strives to keep its registries lower than those of the mid-23rd century fleet.

I'm curious... How do you derive the Guenther numbers? From SotSF or something else? He never really laid out a full idea of what he thought a fleet might constitute in detail (besides what I wrote in volume one about a circa 2290, 1600 ship fleet.) He was kinda averse to tying down things like that.

Purely from SotSF numbers, yeah. And assuming that each "class ship number" is sequentially followed by as many numbers as the specified class size would indicate: if USS Daring is NCC-2394 and there are eighteen of the ships to be built, the last one will be NCC-2411. It works with most of the closely packed SotSF numbers...

Although when he gives five-digit ones for the TOS movie era, I take unfair advantage of the fact that his numbers are not explicitly NCC ones, and decide that those must be NAR ones instead. :p

Does this list have your ships from your guide as well?

That was sort of the point. Thanks to the list, I know how many Chandley class ships I can insert after NCC-2300 before I have to insert Makin so that I can squeeze enough of those in before hitting the Daring...

That is, I take those FASA registries that are explicitly mentioned in the publications, but discard the FASA data on how many of each ship were built because those figures are excessive in comparison with both SotSF, FJ and the boundaries of canon. So NCC-2300 as mentioned for the Chandley is fine and NCC-2309 and NCC-2327 as mentioned for specific ships of that class have to be accommodated somehow as well, but NCC-2392 must be part of a separate production batch or subclass because I can't have the Chandley production run consequentially for a hundred such large and impressive starships, consuming a hundred valuable NCCs.

It's a convoluted undertaking but not a complete mess, although I've to come up with more innovative ways to accommodate all the FASA classes even when I pretend there are only a handful of ships in each class rather than hundreds.

Didn't forget, just got swamped and wanted to clear out another project. (See Trek Gaming for more on that). I have another request in the morning for Ziz, then I'll put together a few pages for you to get started.

Works just fine for me. I can't really do much with it at the moment. I'm still swamped and behind today. I'll do another pass tommorow and see if anything's up. It SHOULD be loading fine for you, though.

Never mind Vance, I just had to manually type it in. It looks great. Looking forward to more from you. I love this site.
