Region free DVD players

Where can I get one? I'm starting to become interested in Region 2 DVDs not available in the U.S., and am shopping around.

Thanks for the advice. :)

Are you certain that you can't disable the region coding on the player(s) you already own? The VideoHelp.com website might help you find out. (Click on "DVD Hacks" and search for your model.)

Well, do you have an HDTV?

If so, then I recommend the Oppo Digital DV-981HD ($230) it's a great 1080p up-converting player and it's easy to hack to Region Free.

For the 981, the hack is VERY simple:

1) Press the 'Setup' button.
2) Enter '9210' on the remote.
3) Secret menu pops up.
4) Change the Region setting to '0'.
5) Press the 'Setup' button to exit.

In fact, the 'Video 2' setting is designed specifically for converting PAL discs correctly with correct 2:2 cadence.

I don't have any PAL discs to test it with, and I don't really intend on getting any this late into the format, so I have no way of testing it.
