Regeneration. Who teared up?

Elizabeth Sladen's teary smile flooded me with a childhood nostalgia, knowing she absolutely understands what's happening because she's been there before. That's the only moment of true emotion for me. Her face just perfectly matched the emotions I was feeling for The Doctor...

I didn't cry the first time I watched EoT. I ALMOST did, but not quite.

Upon watching various fanvids afterward, the very first time I cried was not a scene of the regeneration. No, it was that damned scene of the Doctor waving at Sarah Jane and the shot of Sarah Jane crying/smiling and the look of *knowing* on her face. Just thinking about it as I type this makes my eyes want to water.

Since then, I can watch fanvids without crying... until they throw that freaking Sarah Jane clip in and BAM, I'm a mess from there on out. LOL

I do find myself more emotional now in re-watching the actual regeneration than I was when I first saw it. And I really can't stop watching it...

[qoute]This. :o

And thanks for the history lesson; I haven't seen any of the old Who (tried to watch the First Doctor, but I barely managed to finish the first episode... it was awful!).

I'm just glad the Tenth Doctor had precedent to behave how unDoctory he was (he acted like a human, not a Time Lord).[/QUOTE]

The first episode of Hartnell isn't really representative of the series as a whole, back then it was conceived as Edutainment, but that quickly changed with the second episode, "The Daleks". The Doctor also became less sinister and more friendly/humorous as time went on.

Also, Sci is incorrect about The Fourth Doctor's regeneration. Although not stated explicitly in dialogue, it is strongly implied the Doctor knows he's going to regenerate (He sees, and later talks to, a strange apparation called the Watcher, who turns out to be an 'intermediate' Doctor incarnation. It's kind of hard to explain but it's basically built on an idea from the last Pertwee about time lords being able to 'project' future regenerations.
