Regarding further pics and spoilers

I was in High School when TMP was coming out and I saw a huge spread in "The National Enquirer"<-- why it was there I have no idea it was a gossip rag back then too.. It had amazing full page shots of the new ships and the cast. I bought a copy and my friends and I drooled over them for weeks before the movie came out, we could tell they spent a tonne of money on the FX. Douglas Trumble is a genius I still think it's the best looking of all the Trek movies...

the old folks (sorry, 'wise', not old), will remember the board explosion when we first got this:

Ah, memories. The long rants about little details, the 'this can't be real it's just a retro version of the Akira', the derogatory nickname of Akiraprise... good days, good days. I remember when the casting sheet was released, and people compared it to the TNG sheet just to remind people how inaccurate it might be. Jackson Archer and T'Pau, bah...

Uh, this wistful old fogey awaits what the next Enterprise will look like. :) But he doesn't care if his first look is on the big screen.

I remember the Enquirer spoiled Trek V: The Final Frontier for me in about March of '89 I think. They also did articles of a non-spoiler variety for TNG before it started.

I think that the NX-01 is a perfect example on why to post photos of the Enterprise. I think it may give time to the CGI people to change the ship to what would want to see. Now if the new ship is hidden to us and then 5 million or more is spent on shots of the Enterprise, and 60%-70% hates it. Do you think that it will hurt the number of people going to go see the movie? I have no big problem with seeing someone play a young kirk or spock. We have seen young versions of Picard in TNG..etc so My big problem is the over all look of the ship and Set. If you seen the HD versions of the "Defiant" on Enterprise ..it was sweet. Some New textures where added. You can see that some new details where added also. But she still held up.

Now think of this. Look back at your Fav Scifi show or Movie. Now think of your Fav ship car..what every. You got that? Now think of a different look for that.

Anyway. I hope the Enterprise will stay the same. :D

...The obsessive attempts to "prove" that the leaked pic wasn't real by "finding" photoshopped tells on the ship, the one poster convinced that they saw a phaser strip running around the saucer rim, the obsession over figuring out what the underside of the ship looked like...

I hope it's as much fun here. :D I preemptively claim the derogatory nickname "Abramsprise." I'll accept royalty payments as soon as it comes into vogue. ;)

"Abramsprise" is too difficult to pronounce, with that consonant cluster in the middle. I hereby suggest the alternative "JJprise," and will collect royalties (or would that be residuals?) under the same terms ;).

I'll see and raise you the following:

-Quintoprise
-Kewlprise
-EINO (Enterprise In Name Only)
-Churchaprise
-Subwayprise

Checks to be made payable to: Gep Malakai, c/o The Resteraunt at the End of the Universe. Please, no travelers checks. :D

Hey cultcross, have you seen Wrath of Khan yet? Spock dies! ;)
But don't get all choked up or anything...he comes back to life in the third film.

:scream: i hate you all
you've ruined Star Trek for me.
I'm leaving forever.

So, any spoilers for XI yet?

First off, my copyright on the new Enterprise nickname is...

NCC-1701-JJ

Secondly, I remember back when the first pics of Phlox were released, and there was a similar "It has to be a fake" attitude on the board. People were convinced it was a photoshopped Cardie or something.
