Refit modifications to JJ Enterprise

Hello! I'm new to the forum!

quick question: Did anyone notice the warp nacelles and the main impulse engine received upgrades/modifications in the final shot of ID? The main impulse engine was twice the length, while the warp nacelles featured the tapered edges similar TOS Enterprise.

I'm going to see it again tonight, so I'll have another view. What do ya'll think?

Ditto. Saw the new impulse engine and it looked pretty cool, but I can't say I noticed changes to the warp nacelles. I'll keep an eye out for it next I see it.

All I noticed was the change to the impulse engines as well. The serious problems with the JJ Ent are below the saucer section, I wish they were addressed instead of a super wide impulse engine that looked better before.

Where did you find that screenshot? I'll admit: the impulse reactor does look out-of-canon for ships we're familiar with, and isn't as attractive as the first set on JJ's Ship, but maybe they made other modifications to the ship that will be tucked in the next film (e.g., they may refine the reactor, or adjust the nacelles)?

Also-- I agree with some of the structural issues "beneath the saucer." She's still a pretty ship...I hope she gets a chance to bear her teeth in the next film!

I believe there were some slight changes to the bridge dome as well. I noticed it looked slightly different as the camera panned over it in the film.

Hate is a strong word but I hate the new impulse deck
Of all things that I don't like about the balance of the ship
Mainly the too skinny secondary hull and the fact that it should be pushed back along the connecting dorsal for better balance they changed one of the main things I liked about the ship which was the TMP style impulse deck
Oy

Yeah, I'm fine with the new impulse deck. It looks more streamlined. Very sleek. :D

Just wanted to say "welcome to the forum." I usually don't have an opinion on ship design, as a rule. It just seems tedious to me, no problem with other people taking it up, I just don't care all that much. It says it's the Enterprise, it looks close enough to the original for me not to complain.

Great screenshots there! Other than the impulse engines, I noticed that the area behind the bridge that stretches out to the impulse engine looks a lot more sleeker on the refit.. Or is it just the lighting...hmmm...

Don't like the new impulse deck. It is like someone said - "Hey this (the old deck) looks too much like fans would expect it to, lets dick it up just to screw with them! hahahaha"

The new impulse engine will look great when the saucer is seperated.

I'm really glad they didn't make any big changes to the ship. I like it just as it is.

*waits for new director to come along and completely fuck it up*

^ yeah, I'm happy JJ has the Star Wars gig but I worry about Star Trek now. I hope someone comes on board and carries on what JJ has established. Be a shame if its fucked up after all this effort.

I noticed the impulse engine change, I d like the previous TMP Ent impulse though.
However like said, they do look a bit like car tail lights rather than an engine.

I like it though. I do like how the closeups and other shots have the 'red dots' on the impulse change about subtly. Alternating from one to another rather than a static red glow.

Also noticed a change on the saucer spine that leads to the impulse deck. As far as any other changes I didn't notice. Will on my second viewing though.
