Redesigning the Enterprise for STXII?

They could always redo engineering with the reason: "it looked like a brewery because it wasn't finished".

As far as changing the proportions of the ship, ie: moving the secondary hull back, that would be a pretty major overhaul, so that's not too likely.

The bowling alley...finally, we're gonna see the bowling alley!

I quite like the look of JJprise: it's different, it's interesting, and it works for me. Now, there are parts I'm not perfectly happy with (the brewery, the iBridge, etc): I understand what they were trying to do, but I guess they overdid it a little. It was a warm-up lap, and some roughness around the edge, production-wise, was to be expected. Frankly, they could have done much, much worse.

It seems like they understand the concerns, and are open to the possibility to address them. But honestly, even if they decide against it, it's not the end of the world. Just give me a good movie, and I'm happy. :D
I agree. The brewery didn't work visually with the rest of the ship. The water park just needs to go.

I'd like to have seen something closer to the TOS bridge as well. I could understand changing the displays a bit since we have technology that didn't exist in the 1960's, but the iBridge was just too OTT.

I'd like to see the nacelle pylons moved forward on the secondary hull and the pointedness of the the nacelles and secondary hull at the aft sections beefed up.

I didn't really mind the brewery visually vs. the rest of the ship but, with the turbine room having figured in the story of the 2009 movie, I doubt there's any real reason or need for us to be seeing it again. I think I'd probably look for a more "finished" appearance to what we do see of Engineering on the next trip.

Even if they change little or nothing else, I'm guessing that the extra "lens flare generator" lighting will be absent from the bridge from here on.

These are the design changes I would like to see. Maybe widen the nacelles but keep the blue bussard collectors. I like them blue. Make the bridge a little warmer looking and get rid of the brewery.

^ I'm fairly sure Space Therapist meant widen the space between the nacelles. ;)

Personally I have no issue with blue, considering that's the colour of Cherenkov radiation. Since these are all high-energy technologies, this fits just fine as far as I'm concerned.

I'm always excited to see new design ideas introduced into Trek. They can redesign things every time out and I'll be happy. :)

I have no suggestions for them - I'm sure that whatever they think is best will be cool.

Other than the size disparity of the ship, I could probably have stood most of the nuEnterprise, but the nacelles, from pylon join to end-cap really ruin the design for me. Of course, there is no chance in Sheol that we'll see a revision on that part of the design *ever* in the JJ movies, as I am sure the Hot Rod ethic is here to stay.

The new nacelles are my favorite part of the JJPrise - there's never really been a modern take done on the original TOS ship's engines.

The design of the nacelles are my favorite aspect of the ship.

Funny thing about the nacelles is that they look better from a distance than close up, IMO. Upclose, the front ends look freakin' huge, but when you see the entire ship from an appreciable distance--such as the scene in which the Enterprise is trying to escape the second black hole in the film's climax--the nacelles seem to flow together nicely with the rest of the ship to me.

Dennis did an illustration of the new Enterprise a short while back, which would get my vote for exterior/look. For the rest I would like to see JJ follow Ryan Church's designs more for the interior sets. All else works as is.

Ryan Church had a great design for the engine room and I wished they had used it!

There was a redesigned Enterprise that I think Gabe Koerner did about 2 years before the new movie came out. I found that to be a superior Enterprise to what we saw on screen in JJ Trek 1. I remember printing a few shots of that puppy out and putting them on my office wall.
