Redesigning the Enterprise for STXII?

I hope they do make some minor changes, but I doubt they'll do anything drastic, because it still has to fit within the story. But I don't mind if they leave it as is either. It's not my favourite ship, but I don't dislike it either. But if they put the nacelles slightly wider apart, I'm happy. :D

And the brewery NEEDS to go. From other interviews, I think they've realized that.

I quite like the look of JJprise: it's different, it's interesting, and it works for me. Now, there are parts I'm not perfectly happy with (the brewery, the iBridge, etc): I understand what they were trying to do, but I guess they overdid it a little. It was a warm-up lap, and some roughness around the edge, production-wise, was to be expected. Frankly, they could have done much, much worse.

It seems like they understand the concerns, and are open to the possibility to address them. But honestly, even if they decide against it, it's not the end of the world. Just give me a good movie, and I'm happy. :D

This is all they need to do:

Just put some more space between the nacelles and I'll be happy. :techman:

I would like them to make the nacelle caps at the front glow orange/yellow, like in the original design art, instead of blue. I also think it would be more reminiscent of the TOS Enterprise that way!

Make them kind of a soft peach color glow, with blue-white flashes (like the arcing that happens when you put metal in a microwave). It'd look cool and be a neat homage to the TOS ship's front caps.

I'd agree with the idea of making the nacelle caps red/orange, instead of blue.

Another "would be nice": remove the big "lump" piece from the nacell's top, by the caps.

Those two changes alone should please the purist in me. :)

As for the "bewery"...frankly, I'm actually perfectly fine with it. One need only take a good look at the TOS Engineering--all the pipes, all the valves...the wrench....

It's actually pretty consistent.

Honestly, I'd just be happy with them moving the neck up a little farther on the secondary hull, making the secondary hull a little bit bigger, and just putting a bit more space in between the warp nacelles. Other than that, I'm perfectly fine with the design as it is.

It seems they're considering redesigning the Enterprise during their "soft prep" for Star Trek 2/XII.

Note Bob's use of the word "might" before going overboard.

I really liked the look of STXI, brewery and all. So I'm not thrilled at the possibility of changes.

Orci clarified his statements at Trekmovie:

UPDATE: Changes = new sections

Bob has dropped by the TrekMovie comments and offered the following:

Perhaps i should clarify. We will see new sections of the Enterprise, not necessarily redesigning, though.

I'm hoping this means we will see the briefing room and perhaps sickbay in more detail (They would need a new one after the last one blew up.) I don't mind if they change engineering or not.

:techman:This makes me happy.

I'm guessing some crew quarters for Kirk, Spock or Uhura.

Also, a saucer rim lounge with a huge bridge-size window would be cool
