In raw numbers, you see more red shirts die than any other colors, so I would say it's a smaller percentage than for gold shirts, but it's the raw numbers people are thinking of, and I think that makes if a valid meme, so no, I have no intention of changing my jargon to "gold shirt" when referring to those likely to get killed.

Also, I have to wonder if red shirts were more likely to be called on landing parties than other shirt colors (excluding star characters who aren't going get killed). If so, then that increases the per cent likelihood of death for a red shirt.

Since the most people we see die are red shirts I still think the meme is valid. However I think it's kind of ironic that in "the man trap" , the first aired episode, the only color shirt we don't see die is red.
