Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charles

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

Aging myself here but I saw Hattie Haydridge do stand up when I was at uni in the early 90s. I wouldn't say she was terrible but her act felt tired like she'd been trotting the same jokes out week in week out.

By contrast her support act was a strange double act called the Rubber Bishops, who were actually funnier, and who seemed to be updating their act all the time, certainly they made reference to current events which Haydridge didn't.

Funny how things go, she was the big name act back then, but one half of the Rubber Bishops was Bill Bailey :)

That's brilliant! Bill Bailey for Holly then? Too outlandish probably. ;)

Anyone else a little disturbed by the fate of professor sexyupsidedownglasses? Finally another human being after who knows how many years (and not knowing what happened to the resurrected Red Dwarf crew), and she's blown out an airlock. And Lister moves on in a matter of seconds? He may be a slob, but I'd think the last human would've been more concerned about the only other actual human around, NOT being around. An almost Futurama-esque disdain for human life, no?

Also, I think she would be the first actual human in the future time frame of the series who wasn't resurrected by nanites, infected and subsequently killed by some virus or whatever, or from some another dimension or time. Only she and Lister were in stasis for 3M+ years and survived..? Funny how little was made of that notion, but then again Lister doesn't seem all that worried about much these days besides getting Kochanski back.

i just had an odd idea.

What if Dave wants more numbers like this?

More than 6 weeks a year.

What of they got Chloe and Norman to star in her own show about running away from Lister?

Maybe Kochanski & Holly ran off to be together.

No weirder than Kryten & a green amorphous blob.

I think he'd make a brill Holly!

I'm glad it's doing well, but it's not even slightly funny...

Well, that makes one of you!

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but you may not want to continue to watch.

Pleasantly surprised by Series X. Definitely the best since VI back in '93.

For me, Red Dwarf never had very many laugh-out-loud moments, but amusing and entertaining in a more subtle way.

Finally saw it, it's still good.

Shame they killed off Irene, but she was one joke character.

I have enjoyed this series enough to order the Blu ray.

Had fewer classic lines than last week but worked better as a whole than the last two weeks.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

This week failed.

Dave should have actually tried to have sex with the vending machine because he's exactly that lonely... And kryten should have built her a synthetic body for the vending machine and she should have left him because h can do better... And they should have time travelled to find out if the kid was his, and if it wasn't, then he should have time travelled again to substitute for Roy in the bedroom when she was supposed to get pregnant.

3 million year old toilet paper shouldn't look that fresh.

It should be browner than the poop it's supposed to dispose of.

How long did they spend in 1st century ad Europe and Dave didn't get laid?

Anyone still thinking how remarkable that Irene professor lady was?

I thought this episode was better than last weeks, though the scene where cat is describing to lister what his girlfriend was doing was slightly annoying, It frustrated me that it was taking up valuable time, and seemed to go on for too long :P

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

I've loved the new series so far but thought this episode was awful. There was hardly any plot and the character scenes felt completely off. There wasn't really much 'witty banter' either and no real climax to the episode.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

It felt like one of the episodes of the classic series. The only one who isn't clicking completely is Cat, but he's getting more comfortable with every episode. Plenty of laughs in this one.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

I enjoyed this one. Same impression as the all of the previous. It felt like classic Red Dwarf, but perhaps not the very best of classic Dwarf. I Really enjoyed it. It tied into everything that has gone on before. Funny lines. Good interactions. Etc. Totally fitting that Dave wasn't the father.

Darn, only one more.

So they leave it till the last episode to answer all our questions.

This weeks episode felt more like a bottle show but this series does seem to spend a lot of time on board.
Cat gets the best laughs again.

I have been wondering the same as Guy about their trip to the past. You wouldn't think they'd be so ready to go back to the lonely ship.

Regarding the last ep, what do you guys make of the sha-raids/sha-rahds exchange with Cat and Kryten? Was that for the benefit of a potential American audience? It just seemed odd to me.

They advertised the DVDs after last night's show. I guess Santa will be putting a lot of those in xmas socks this chrimbo.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

But what they're really hoping for is new viewers who have to back and get all 10 seasons on dvd for a first view.

"wait 5 years, and then come here and get married."

Although seeing the other end of Future Echoes (Past Echoes?) would be fantastic too.

Go back to Judea 30 ad with a couple bazookoids and they could set themselves up as gods... Mankind dies out. That means that time is for shit. Any change that will see the human race still waddling around in 3,000,000 ad is a good... They just have to find the point where everything started to go wrong for the species and it's empire.

Of course then they run the risk of playing doubles tennis with the Gorings.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

This has been a viewing success and I expect it'll be a commercial success too, so it wouldn't be surprising if they go for another season.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

Yesterday's was OK - episode 2 is still the best
