Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charles

Oh man that would have been amazing

That'd have been awesome, missed opportunity that.

Really loved this episode. It's almost like we found a misssing series that should have aired before series 7. I'm just enjoying it so much!

It's all turned into a full-on nostalgia fest for me anyway as I've rewatched series 1-3 on DVD.

That's exactly how I feel watching them! We may not have recovered the tip-top classic episodes (at least not yet) of a "missing series." But, these are really very good and I can't believe that I'm watching classic Red Dwarf again.

I hope they can continue beyond just one series!

Two great episodes in a row, the show really feels back on form, and I'm constantly amazed at how nostolgic I feel, just hearing the theme tune!

I thought the Chinese Whispers gag was amusing but they didn't quite pull it off, the solution for getting rid of Pree was clever thoughm and made perfect sense.

Just one thing...why was Kryton getting food from a vending machine?

Trojan was a better episode but this was good too. The whole father-son joke went on a bit too long. The Chinese Knickers joke was great. At least there's some hint explaining why we have no Holly at this point - he/she isn't available. Wonder if they'll expand on this at some point.

Still not reaching the heights of seasons 3-6 but still enjoyable.

Jesus, that was a horrible episode (pun intended).

I mean, I'm not a christian - if anything I'm a militant atheist, but gaarrgh! What a horrible, hackneyed story with maybe one moderately funny joke in the whole episode. Trojan was not bad, almost good even. Pree, eeeerrrr its alright, but this was just rubbish.

Wasn't a fan of this episode either, Seemed to have been a few missed opportunities for the normal sharp wit that we're used to in red dwarf.

First bad episode of the series. Not sure what they were thinking with this one. That they could riff on the Life of Brian? Pretty poor all round really.

Re: Red Dwarf series 9 (or is it 10?) in 2012 confirmed by Craig Charl

Not *bad* but certainly the weakest of the set so far- very predictable, and trying to bask in some of Life Of Brian's glory was always going to be a hiding to nothing.

Not as strong overall as Pree (my fave of the series so far), but it did contain my two biggest individual chuckles so far: the Last Supper visual gag, and second, the reveal of what it was that the Cat actually ate. I also liked the operating table scene, esp. Rimmer's lines.

Lots of filler though, which dragged the overall package down. Having said that, it felt a bit more relaxed than either Pree or Trojan. The tone of the banter between Rimmer and Lister in particular felt much more natural again. I don't know if these eps are being shown in production order, but if they are, I'd actually say that bodes well for the remaining episodes, even if the funny bits in this ep were few and far between. Overall, I'd put it a little below Pree, but better than Trojan. Certainly, I'm not as down on this one as some of you are.

Very poor episode. The writers didn't really know what they wanted to do.

I always assumed that Mrs Rimmer named her son Judas because he ruined her vagina on the way out.

I still laughed a fair bit through this, which is really what I look for a comedy show to do.

I thought Rimmer's Parents were 7th Day Hoppists but I must be mis-remembering that.

It was probably the weakest so far but I still enjoyed it.

Yeah I liked it too, it made me laugh throughout. And part of it was VERY cringeworthy!

No, you're right they were previously described as Seventh Day Advent Hoppists.

Why didn't they just use power from Kryten? Or indeed apples - anything that has acid...

Now you say it, yes, Kryten would make an obvious power source.

That's the first thing I thought. He's been known to power various attachments and even independent parts of himself. They should have had at least a throwaway line how his energy isn't compatible with the remotes. You know, like holodeck energy. We all believed that, right?

This was moderately funny for me. About par for this series IMO. Also, I've noticed that the Cat was wearing a plaid outfit he's ACTUALLY WORN BEFORE. I don't know how many times this has actually happened, but it's pretty few! The cast commented early on that Danny John Jules hasn't changed a bit physically, where everyone else has had to have larger wardrobe created. If this was the actual costume he wore previously, we shouldn't be surprised!
