Red Dead Redemption

I've only just started playing this, having been working at my backlog of games, and yeah, I think I've found a game I'm 100% in love with. If it was possible, I'd have proposed already; and I'm only about six hours in. Most of that time has been spent just randomly riding about doing random stuff.

This has been one of the only two games on pre-order. The other was NCAA football 11. I basicaly pre-ordered NCAA on a lark, but anyway I picked it up on release week(not the release day) and I loved it. By far the coolest game i've seen in a long time. I beat it and traded it in. I have been thinking about going back and getting it again though. I never re-buy games, but this one is just awsome.

A great, great game. Played it for two months straight and got 100% story completion.

After a couple of months, I just downloaded Undead Nightmare, ready to head back into it :)

Is there any word of this game making it's way onto Windows? I've been looking at getting a new sandbox game since I think I've about worn out Saints Row 2 and San Andreas and GTA:IV doesn't look very appealing. That plus Just Cause 2 won't run on XP for some odd reason.

I suppose I could reinstall Red Faction 3 since I never did get very far with at, but that one never really felt like a "real" sandbox...except perhaps in the literal sense...what with all the boxes and all the sand...

It's been on my shelf for quite a while and I finally picked it up the other night and I'm a few hours in. Astonishingly good game. The controls took me a while to get used to -- I never played GTA IV and it's been years since my last GTA game, which I think was Vice City on the PS2, so it didn't feel intuitive at all. But once I got adjusted to the controls it's really started moving. I'm taking it really slow, just enjoying the environment and exploring for the most part.

Great stuff. Makes me want to watch "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" again.

Looked forward to it wehn it was releasesd, preordered and everything, completely loved it...but couldn't read the text properly on my old Widesccreen CRT. So I hadf to wait until cousin moved in and borught along his HDTV.

In my opinion it's certainly one of the best games of the year, if not the best, and certainly in the top five of the last decade. Great story and acting, fantastic atmosphere, music...the list goes on. I've forced myself to keep to the story, but I love just riding. The treasure hunting is awesome, I wish they had like 50 treasures instead of just 10.

I agree it's awesome, but I'd be pissed if I had to find 50 to get my Legend of the West outfit.

Currently at level 8 sharpshooter and 6 hunter; done with the other two challenges. SO CLOSE.

@ Reverend - I'm not sure. I can't remember whether they said they had no plans, or just that they planned to release it at a later date than the console versions. I'll be both happy and mad if they release a PC version, though. I'll have to buy it and start everything over. Two years ago I wouldn't bother, but I dropped my last tax return on a computer that puts both consoles to shame, so the graphics would be much better on my PC.

^Agreed on both above posts. The soundtrack is great, even though I'd almost like a a track that is only a loop of the awesome bass-melody that's playing when you're on Great Plains at night. And just riding around is basically why I haven't gotten further in the game

^ Yep, it's just you, the horse, and the great wide and wild outdoors. Gotta love it.

Until a cougar gets you. Leisurely roaming around in some specific spots: not such a good idea. :shifty:

Never had any problems with fighting cougars or bears (even though I once ran into a whole pack of 21 (!!!) bears, the damn mofos just kept spawning and spawning while I was busy shooting and disembowelling the others). Is there any difficulty setting thing I missed?

I just got this game yesterday as I noticed it was on sale for $40.

OMG. This is waaaaay better than any of the GTAs. So pretty. So fun.

^Got that right. The GTAs where impressive in their own right, and what I've seen of 4 I've liked but...it's never really grabbed me. I've never really been arsed to continue. John Marston is a great main character which makes me want to keep playing and the world is just so more intresting to me then a big city.
