Recommendations for revisiting

So I watched "Broken Bow" a while ago, and...I hated pretty much everything about it. Basically, it had no redeeming value to me and I said that I wouldn't watch any more of this show. But, I have heard that the show becomes good later. So while I was "scared off" by the pilot, if there are some decent episodes or stories ahead, I'd be curious to take a look.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on what are some good ones worth taking a look at.

Surprised you didn't enjoy Broken Bow. I found it to be a very strong Pilot, with some decent character moments and even the occasional flash of humour. Usually it comes down to fans disappointed that subsequent episodes failed to live up to such promise. But hey ho...

In light of the new film, reacquaint yourself with the 22nd Century through an excellent trilogy set on Vulcan...

The Forge, Awakening & Kir'Shara

Maybe seek out Borderland, Cold Station 12 & The Augments.

Anything from Season 4, usually fares better with those ambivalent to the earlier years.

May I suggest starting the way I did. Start watching with the last episode of season 2 which sets up season 3. Watch all of season 3 then season 4. After that you can go back to season 1 and start from the begining. I'm certain you opinion will change.

I actually ended up watching ENT just the way Middleman suggested. I happened across the last episode of Season 2 and started watching from that point on.

I am in a distinct minority, but I prefer Season 1 to the other seasons, but I watched Season 1 & 2 only on DVD. Our tastes likely differ though, since I think Broken Bow is one of the strongest, if not the strongest pilot of the Trek series.

Enterprise got me into Star Trek, and "The Expanse" was the first episode I watched. After that, I kept watching until TATV, so I recommend that one.

ENT and DS9 tie as my favorite ST series as does their pilots. If you are that turned off by the pilot of ENT I don't think I could recommend any Star Trek. Seriously. If there is no redeeming value in it for you I don't think you will enjoy SciFi. Maybe Desperate Housewives or American Idol would be a better choice.

DS9 is my all-time favorite TV show, sci-fi, Trek, or otherwise. I've finished the 7 seasons of both it and TNG and I'd consider myself a huge fan of both. Voyager for all its faults is proving to have more good than bad so far. I loved Emissary, Caretaker wasn't bad, and I even liked Encounter at Farpoint. I've been a fan of Star Wars and various mecha for years, and while Star Trek is a relatively new fandom, I've enjoyed most of what I've seen.

So far, ST: Enterprise is the only one that's sent me packing. I feel it's worth another chance tho, since I like to like Star Trek, and I'd rather not just dismiss it if there's good things to come.

I think some good ones are depending on what you like:
* Andorian Incident -- for the first Andorians
* Shuttlepod One -- funny
* Twilight -- kinda like the Inner Light
* The Forge -- most TOS-like without being just stupid

To be honest, the first time I saw the pilot episode I got mad. Part of it may have been trying to watch on a snowy 12 TV while camping in Florida. But a big part is I thought they were designing the show for the same people that watched Beverly Hills 90210. When I bought the DVD's and started watching it through things changed. I have to admit, after going back and watching the three seasons of TOS I realized that ENT is not that much different.

More than any other series, attachment to Enterprise comes through building an interest in the characters. Not since TOS has the crew of an ST series been so stable. There was no revamp like they did after the first two awful seasons of TNG, and people did not move on like they did in TNG, DS9 or VOY. You get the same bunch from episode 1 on. That could be one reason that so many people come here and say that they like ENT much better after getting the DVD's and watching it at their own pace.

The suggestion to start with the last episode of season two is pretty good. Season 3 and 4 of ENT are among the best in ST. There are a few bombs such as Hatchery but don't let those throw you off. Once you watch those two years you may have an attachment for the characters that will make you more forgiving of seasons one and two, much like we all had attachments for the TOS crew that got us through season 3.
