A Different Kind of Asshole
I have quite literally come to the point where I am running out of room to store printouts of PostScript and PDF files in my crappy little apartment, so inspired by the big stink Amazon.com has recently made over the Kindle, I have been looking at devices such as the iLiad and Sony Reader. The Kindle itself is not an option, as it appears to lack the capability of receiving files directly from a PC via USB, WiFi or Bluetooth and I have exceedingly little interest in paying Amazon.com "just a small charge" every time I want a PS/PDF file formatted for their device. That said, my primary requirements - in loose order of preference - are as follows:
* The longest hardware warranty period.
* The largest amount of onboard storage.
* The ability to display raw PS files without my needing to convert them into PDFs.
* The longest battery life.
What I don't require:
* A large eBook catalogue.
So far the Sony Reader appears to be the best option, as aside from expandable memory card storage Sony USA offers a four year warranty plan including coverage for accidental damage for only $99.99. On the other hand it does not support PostScript, but then neither does any other reader I have found online. Considering that I have literally thousands of PS journal papers purchased and downloaded during the 1990s and early 2000s, this functionality would certainly make my life a lot easier.
Cosmic thoughts?
