Recommend some books...

If you're into West Wing-type stories, then Articles of the Federation is really good. Even if you aren't, it's still a good read.

Tales of the Dominion War is another one I also recommend because it helps cover the other series and provide the story behind those events only heard about (Dominion invasion of Betazed, Breen attack on Earth).

No Limits is another good anthology, but it's hard to get into if you haven't read the New Frontier books.

A top-notch series is the Corps of Engineers, previously known as the Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers (or SCE). A mixture of canon and lit characters with incredible stories filled with complexity and depth.

If you want information on the different books and series, then you really should check out Memory Beta, the non-canon wiki. I'm actually a fairly regular contributor to the site, along with several other posters here. I'm not sure, but I think some of the authors have even done some work on it here and there. But just to warn you, some of the in-universe articles do have spoilers, so be careful what you look at.

A part from the already mentioned DS9 relaunch series I quite liked Stitch in Time by Andrew Robinson which was about (not hard to guess Garak)

I'm not a Voyager fan that much but two books that I liked were Mosaic and its sequel Pathways. I believe written by producer Jeri Taylor.

The Battle for Betazed (TNG) was also a good read about the enterprise during the dominion war.

Oh, I should probably throw out Mission Gamma #1 Twilight as well. My absolute favorite Trek book, but I do suggest reading the rest of the relaunch first up to this point.

I like several of the Lost Era books, except the Enterprise-C one. Haven't read the Riker one, but the others that I have read are quite good.

I also really like the Vanguard books. One and two are very good. Haven't read three yet, but I will before summer vacation ends.

I am also a van of the older "series" TOS books. Bloodthirst by JM Dillard is a great vampire-style TOS book, and reads very much like an episode of the classic series. The characterization of McCoy is frighteningly spot-on.

KRAD's Klingon books are quite good, and most of the DS9 relaunch books are good too.

There's a lot out there to choose from. Pick something and go with it. Good luck. :techman:
