Recommend me some EPIC music!

Following up Mr. Laser Beam's post.

And throwing a game theme in here too.

Search for Two Steps from Hell on Youtube and browse through their stuff, you won't be disappointed. Epic in the extreme. My current favorite from them is Tristan.

Assuming you have heard the majority of the popular pieces from recent movies let me introduce you to some of the more hidden gems. Which are awesomely epic.

Woad to Ruin, Injection, Up is Down, all by Hans Zimmer.

Stealing the Enterprise, Charging Fort Wagner, Rocketeer to the Rescue, all by James Horner.

The Fire Dragon, Rudy Main Theme, by Jerry Goldsmith.

Klendathu Drop by Basil Poledouris.

Silverado by Bruce Broughton.

Morgan's Ride by John Debney.

I am the Doctor, All the Strange, Strange Creatures, by Murray Gold

Shooting Star by Ilan Eskeri.

Human Target Theme by Bear McCreary.

I used to LOVE this piece of music---even put it on my mp3 player. Then Sarah Palin starting using it on her whatever-the-fuck-that-was tour she did last year. Kinda killed it for me, right there.

Hitler loved Wagner, doesn't mean I can't still enjoy Ride of the Valkyries.

I try to never let the crap associated with composers or fans or any of the ancillary stuff detract from my appreciation of a work of art.

Some really great recommendations here; thank you so much to everyone. It must have taken some of you quite a while to embed vids and create links; it's appreciated!

I particularly enjoyed Zimmer's Injection and Up and Down pieces, Horner's Rocketeer, and the Earth to the Moon theme, as well as Children of Dune track, none of which I can recall hearing before. Great stuff.

It was also fun to relisten to Murphy's Sunshine, Poledouris' Klendathu Drop, Debney's Cutthroat Island and Broughton's fab Silverado theme.

Random browsing through YouTube also reminded me of The Last Samurai and Gladiator, neither of which I've listened to in years.

This thread definitely made doing the ironing this afternoon rather more entertaining than it usually is! :techman:
