Heresy, isn't it?

I'm not talking about recasting The Doctor. The show takes care of that by itself in concept alone. I'm talking about the show around him.

Gold-forbid that someone other than RTD had come along to revive it with care. We might have got an entire revamp. A start-over. Thinking along these lines, and with the understanding that the actors that play The Doctor can't be recast, how would you recast the Doctor Who universe?

Hey, I love the actors and actresses that make up Doctor Who's history, this is all in fun. An imaginative exercise. For example, I don't think anyone could play Rose except for Billie Piper, and I don't think anyone could be Jack except for Barrowman. But, in this case, there's a gun to our head and we're forced to make a new choice.

Any actor for any era. Your choice.

You can't recast The Doctor, man! Jeez, what kind of heretic are you?!

Oh, and recasting The Master and Romana is fine, I guess. But, I find it pointless to recast Time Lords for this, as they can regenerate and become that actor anyway. I'm just sticking with the relatively mortal characters, or the one-off Time Lord appearances (i.e. the Judge in TRIAL OF A TIME LORD). But, hey, if it's fun do it!

I'm also still thrilled with the idea of Glitz and Dibber being played by Eddie Izzard and Vinnie Jones. For those noobWho's out there, we're talking a duo made up by a fatalistic con-man and a hired thug with a philosopher's streak. They couldn't be more Robert Holmes' characters if they tried. Give Moffat the script and tell him to channel as much Douglas Adams as he can muster, and Izzard and Jones would win a BAFTA for their roles...

The lesser kind. William Hartnell is dead and we can't bring him back, plus the first Doctor has already been played by a different actor in the past!
