Unfortunately, I'll bet that Abrams, fanfic writers, trek novelists and everyone else will cheat with impunity. Yeah, Vulcan is gone, but Tuvok was on vacation and T'pring went off planet to buy groceries and T'Pau was visiting her Tellarite college roomate.

For the loss of Vulcan to have imact, we need for it to have impact. That means that most of the Vulcan's we know (or their parents) were not in that 10,000.
