Y'know, this could be a neat way to transition out of the holograms and back to viewscreens. Some exchange where the ships need to communicate but the holography system on Enterprise is FUBAR at the moment, and they default to viewscreen-type communication, complete with some comment from the conservative captain Pike about how he hates the hologram method anyway.
