ReBoot complete series to DVD in 2011

Got my set today. Woot! :)

I only ever saw a couple of episodes of the series, looking forward to seeing the whole thing. The booklet unfortunately doesn't mention which episodes have commentary (or who provides it) but I'm sure I'll find out along the way.

This makes me very very happy... how's the video quality of the set? Does it look like a VHS transfer, or is it a bit better than that? I'm probably picking it up regardless, though, since I'm sure the master files don'e exist for them to ever do a better job with an HD transfer.... though it would be lovely, like they did with the first two Toy Story movies....

It's better than VHS. It's not great, but as I'm not familiar with the quality of the original material it's hard to say how much of that is the DVDs' fault (we are talking early CGI after all). I'm also upconverting via my Blu Ray player, which on occasion seems to hit the quality a little bit.

The sound isn't 5.1, which is a bit of a let-down for me, though in this case I suppose not horribly unexpected. The menus as near as I can tell indicate when commentary is available, but don't indicate anything as far as what episodes have it...I haven't done a lot of checking yet though.

Ooh, thanks for the article; would never have seen that otherwise. :)

From the link:
Cost of the 9-disc Definitive set remains at $69.97 SRP, with all the same content as the Shout! Select version, but available to pre-order from Amazon at a nice discount. On the same day Shout! is also putting out ReBoot - Seasons 3 & 4, at $29.93 SRP.
So the whole series in two separate releases will retail for about fifty combined, but the same content plus a few features will cost an extra twenty? That makes no sense at all.
Never mind, Amazon now lists the whole series one-pack at $45, shipping end-of-June. With free shipping, that comes to roughly $22 for Seasons 3/4 plus the extras if you've already bought/can't wait for the first two-season set. Not too shabby, and definitely worth it if you don't already have the excellent first arc of S3, as I do. :p

Just thought I'd give this thread a bump since the set is now out. I've picked mine up, but have only watched hte first disc.

I have to admit I was kind of excited for it, and ended up purchasing it...and started watching the first disc and haven't gotten back to it. I fear my viewing backlog has gone from Large to Utterly Hopeless.

After watching the first two eps last night, it is my solemn duty to inform everyone that this show is still the cat's pajamas. Just awesome. :bolian:

Sorry for the thread you-know-what, but just wanted to note that seasons 1+2 (only, alas) are on Netflix streaming. :bolian:
