Reap The Whirlwind back in print? (here we go again...)

Went back to that used book store and guess what was still there...

I was thinking of selling it on eBay, but I may just wind up giving it away to someone here who wants it, in some giveaway on my blog...

A giveaway would be cool. Though I already have it.

I managed to get it for list price (normal MMPB size), through Amazon last year for Christmas. No idea why they had it in stock then, because it disappeared a short while later.

I only read it fairly recently (and then the fourth book), it was awesome.

Wow, I had no idea this book was hard to find! I bought my copy used. It's not in the best shape, (it's kinda swollen like it was stored somewhere slightly damp for a while), but at least I have it.

Of course, it would help if I had a copy of Harbinger so I could actually read the series. I keep my eyes peeled at used bookstores though. Now I know it's rare, I'll be sure to be on the lookout for Reap the Whirlwind. If I find a nicer copy, I'll be glad to give someone mine. :)

Sakrysta: Have you looked on Amazon for Harbinger? They have both new and plenty of used copies listed.

I, like many could not find a copy of 'Reap The Whirlwind' anywhere...but was able to get it used off of Amazon at a reasonable price.

Good luck.

Oh, I'm sure I'll run into a copy eventually. Considering how far behind I am in my reading, I'm not desperate to find one right this minute. :) I'm kinda persnickety about books, so I tend to prefer to buy them in person rather than online unless it's something that's just impossible to find. The hunt is half of the fun. :techman:

^ Yes, it is currently unavailable. That sucks a lot! David - who can we complain to about this?

While we're at it, Precipice and the two Vanguard books coming out this year are all listed as the same book right now - three different MMPBs and three different Kindle versions, all under the same listing.

Is it just me or is the Kindle version of Reap the Whirlwind currently unavailable again? What's up with that?

Yes, and it appears to be only the Kindle version. Barnes & Noble seems to have it available for the Nook and Books on Board seems to have it available in several formats.

As a matter of fact, I gave up on the poor quality formatting of the TrekLit books I've bought for my Kindle. I've had to do so much editing that, I've decided to save myself a step and I now purchase all of my TrekLit in epub format from Books on Board, edit them and convert to mobi for my Kindle.

I might be missing something here. But if you are still having to edit the epub book then convert it I am not sure how that is saving you a step?
Thanks

I no longer have to convert from mobi to epub to edit in Sigil. Granted it's a minor step but starting from a native epub is much better than a mobi converted to epub and it makes a big difference.

Good point, makes sense. But you still find it necessary to edit epub format as well?

All the confusion over this title makes me glad I bought it when it first came out.

I guess one of these days I should read it....

Almost always. Many times it's very minor modification though. I don't like blank lines between paragraphs, real covers and a toc are a must for me, that sort of thing. Ten to fifteen minutes and I'm reading. Some, though, I've had to spend hours working on.

Since all the formats come from S&S, you'd think that, underneath the file wrapper, they'd all be identical, but that isn't always the case. I've seen instances where the mobi looked horrible but the epub or lrf looked fine. Heck, many of the old Microsoft Reader formats I purchased years ago were some of the best formatted ebooks I've ever seen. Of course, that says more about the time and money that S&S put into their ebooks back then than it does about their ebook efforts in general. They still produce decent looking, relatively error free, nicely formatted ebooks now but it's very hit or miss.

Here in the UK Reap the Whirlwind is still available for Kindle, but Summon the Thunder isn't, which is a shame - really want to start reading Vanguard, but if book two isn't available there's not much point...

Even something called 'St: Vangard - Summon the Thunder Prepack 18 Mixed Floor Display' by the unimaginatively-named Rebecca Helen Helen Helen Helen He Ward is out of stock...
