Really wonderful Galaxy Quest mockumentary

Destructor

I know Galaxy Quest isn't strictly Trek but I figure if you're a Trek fan, you gotta be a Questerian at heart.

I saw this amazing half-hour special back when the film was released, and was really impressed how they made the entire thing 'in character' as if the show was real, and the upcoming movie was real- it's basically an extra 21 minutes added to the movie. I'm stunned it wasn't included on the DVD, because it's far superior to the 'making of' that was included.

If you're a fan of the film, or the film 'Trekkies', you'll really enjoy this, it's well worth a watch.

Part 1 is here, but make sure you watch parts 2 and 3 also (there are links to them alongside the vid):

That was great! I love Galaxy Quest and had never seen that. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for the heads up; I'll bookmark that. Galaxy Quest just gets better with repeat viewings; I'm beginning to think it's Tim Allen's best work.

I knew I'd seen this when it first aired, but not since (making me wonder if I was just drinking Drano or something). I was baffled that it wasn't included on the DVD.

My brother thought Galaxy Quest WAS Star Trek or at least about it, and he's not even a fan!
I love the GQ movie. It pokes fun while paying homage to ST. My ex-fiancee hates it because it "does nothing but ridicule Star Trek". I guess that's why she's an ex. :vulcan:

:rommie:

I love the lizard costume at 2:43.

They should get together with the Entourage people because obviously "Viking Quest" was another spinoff.

If this film is ever re-released on DVD (or released on Blu-Ray), I really hope the studio takes advantage of the "world of Galaxy Quest." By that, I mean we could get not only this E! documentary but ship blueprints; a trivia track by E. Kim Aduko, the author of the Galaxy Quest Encyclopedia (there's no such thing but why shouldn't a GQ DVD parody a Trek DVD?); an episode guide; maybe even an intro by a real Trek writer. I just think it would be cool for Ron Moore, developer of the new BsG, crediting Galaxy Quest for his start in the biz.

I gotta think there'll be a 10th anniversery release or somesuch that should include this (if they're thinking right over in DVD-land).

I thought you were gay.
I am. I was in denial. Later I was "bi". A lot later I realized I was always gay. I'm still not out except to a couple friends & exes- and online. She was my personal stalker for a couple of decades. I'd break up, she'd wait a year or so, call wanting to be friends, then tell everyone we were engaged.
Thanks for caring more about my personal life than my on topic post. Should I call security or give you my phone number? :rommie:

...She didn't watch the movie, did she? :wtf:

Or: I didn't know there were Trekkie Fundamentalists.
She had watched it in the theater with friends. When I rented it (remember back when we had to go to a store and rent a videotape... lol?) she bitched from the moment I put it in until I told her to, "Shut the hell up or leave and I'll watch it!"
Trekkie Fundamentalist.... O YEAH! The first time I met George Takei was at a convention where she wore her TNG costume. We talked about the disastrous ST:TFF and ways they could have made it better while George signed autographs. She kept interrupting with how great Shatner made that movie, how dare I criticize Star Trek, etc. George was really annoyed with her. I was just plain embarrassed to be around her. :alienblush:

No need for security, I just saw "perhaps that's why she's an ex" and thought you were kidding around. I figured I'd come back here to "Well yeah, I guess that could've had something to do with it too."

Although, in retrospect incompatible sexualities probably is less of a relationship hurdle than incompatible Trek views.
