Real-life 'Gridlock' scenario in China

This has been ongoing for a couple weeks but I just heard about it. Apparently there's a traffic jam happening in Beijing that's expected to keep cars trapped for weeks, moving a fraction of a mile per day, just like the underground freeways in "Gridlock". Villagers are making a killing selling food to the stranded motorists:

Bear this one in mind next time you're stick in a "little" 45-minute traffic jam on your local expressway!
