Kudos, the makers of Life on Mars, Spooks, Hustle and various other shows are co-producing a new Sci-Fi Drama called Real Humans, a remake of a Swedish series.

From Broadcast
Kudos is adapting Swedish sci-fi drama Real Humans as a co-pro with original makers Matador Films.

Matador’s original 10 x 60-minute series is set in a parallel present day where technology has enabled robots - dubbed ‘hu-bots’ - to become so human it is nearly impossible to tell them apart from people.
It is set to premiere on Sveriges Television (SVT) early next year.
Kudos is kicking off development of a remake “immediately”. So far no broadcasters have been attached to an international version, but the indie is understood to be considering making multiple adaptations, depending on buyers’ appetite.
Kudos’ chief operating officer Dan Isaacs said: “Everyone at Kudos loves this show. We are delighted to be able to collaborate this early with Matador to create new international versions of such an original and groundbreaking series.
“It will be a huge hit when it launches next year and to be underway on the international development now is both a privilege and a huge advantage for us.”
Real Humans was created and written by Lars Lundström and directed by Harald Hamrell and Levan Akin. Stefan Baron, head of drama at SVT and Henrik Widman, managing director of Matador Films, were executive producers.
Shine Group’s sales arm Shine International has also acquired distribution rights to this version.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to this, who picks it up and when it airs.

Hmm, sounds a bit blade-runnery, and I hope Kudos fares better than it did with its last attempt at sci-fi. Sounds intriguing though.

^Well anything from BSG to Blade Runner I suppose.

I hope so too, because I believe Outcasts started out similarly, they decided to make it and went out looking for partners to make it with rather than having it commissioned.

I wonder if they'll do a US version, or at least show the British in the US? IF they do either one I'm interested enough that I might check it out.

Sigh. If I never see another robots-kill-their-masters story that relies on humans blithely giving robots the means with which to kill us as if no one in the universe has ever seen Terminator or Wargames or whatever, it'll be too soon.

Ditto for stories where humans make non-sexbots that are indistinguishable from humans. At least this doesn't go as far as Blade Runner or BSG, where they were literally just humans. Doubleplus unfun.
